Dimeric acid is both a thermosensitive substance and a high boiling point substance. Using ordinary distillation purification method is not only difficult to purify, but also prone to oxidation and deterioration of dimer acid, resulting in darkening of color.

The separation and purification of dimer acids using molecular distillation is generally divided into two stages of separation. The first stage should remove the monomer acid as much as possible, and the second stage should separate and purify the dimer acid from the dimer acid using high vacuum. The entire separation process has a short heating time and low separation temperature, which largely ensures that the dimer acid is not oxidized or deteriorated by high temperature, and the product quality is stable and reliable.
