1、 Before conducting a thorough diagnosis, record the key information: Fault phenomenon: Is there a large measurement error? Can't the machine move? Software error? Probe abnormality? Error message: Record the error code or prompt popped up by the software (such as "XX axis out of tolerance", "controller communication interruption"). Frequency of occurrence: Is the malfunction occasional or persistent? Recent changes: Have probes and probes been replaced? Has it collided before? Has there been a sudden change in the environment (temperature, humidity)? 2、 Common fault classification and detection methods 1 Symptoms of mechanical system failure: abnormal movement noise, jamming, and poor positioning accuracy. Testing steps: Cleaning and lubrication: Check the guide rail and screw for dust and rust, and clean and lubricate if necessary (using original factory specified grease). Air source inspection (for air flotation models): Check whether the air pressure is stable (usually 0.45-0.6 MPa), whether the filter is draining, and whether the air flotation block is blocked. Horizontal detection: Use a precision electronic level to check the machine's levelness (should be ≤ 0.01mm/m). If it exceeds the tolerance, it needs to be leveled again. Mechanical clearance: Use the handwheel to gently shake each axis and feel if there is any obvious clearance (to be evaluated by a professional engineer). 2. Symptoms of probe system malfunction: abnormal triggering, poor repeatability, calibration failure. Testing steps: Needle inspection: Check if the needle is loose, bent, or damaged, tighten it again, and verify. Probe connection: Confirm that the probe is firmly connected to the extension rod and adapter without looseness. Probe calibration: Re calibrate the probe and observe whether the "shape error" and "repeatability" during the calibration process exceed the tolerance (usually<1 μ m). Replacement test: If there are spare probes (such as TP20, TP200, etc.), test whether the problem persists after replacement. 3. Control system and software malfunction symptoms: software crashes, axis cannot be driven, communication errors. Testing steps: Restart the system: Close the software → Restart the controller → Restart PCMS-DMIS and other measurement software. Check the connection: Check if the Ethernet/USB cable between the controller and the computer is securely plugged in. Is the controller power indicator light working properly. Software reset: In the software, "reset" or "reset" the machine and observe whether each axis can return to the reference point normally. Driver and configuration: Check if the machine configuration (such as serial number, axis parameters) in the software is correct, and reload the configuration file if necessary. 4. Symptoms of environmental and external factors: measurement drift and variability over time. Testing steps: Temperature: Check if the ambient temperature is stable (ideal state is 20 ± 1 ℃), avoid direct air conditioning or sunlight. Vibration: Check if the ground is stable and if there are any sources of vibration such as punch presses or air compressors nearby. Power supply: Use a voltage regulator to ensure voltage stability and avoid sharing lines with other high-power devices. 3、 Using built-in diagnostic tools (key steps), Hexagon devices are typically equipped with powerful self checking functions: Controller diagnosis: viewing status indicator lights (such as power, communication, axis status) on the controller. Access the "diagnostic interface" (such as "Machine Diagnostics" in PC-DMIS) through software to view real-time data such as grating readings of each axis and air flotation pressure. Accuracy verification: Conduct "repeatability testing" and "length measurement error testing" using standard balls or step gauges, and compare the machine's nominal accuracy (such as MPE value). Run the '21 penalty kick test' to analyze spatial errors. Grating and encoder inspection: Clean the grating ruler (using alcohol and cotton swabs, gently wipe in one direction), and check for scratches. Check if the reading head indicator light is normal (usually green indicates normal). 4、 Primary response strategy for graded fault handling (operator executable): clean the machine, recalibrate the probe, restart software, and inspect the environment. Intermediate response (requires equipment administrator or engineer): replace probe/probe module, adjust gas source, perform system diagnosis, backup and reinstall software. Advanced response (contact Hexacon after-sales): Mechanical component damage (such as bearing and motor failure), grating ruler damage, controller hardware failure, etc. require professional repair by the manufacturer. 5、 Preventive maintenance recommendation daily: preheat the machine for 30 minutes, clean the guide rail and measuring needle. Weekly: Check the air filter and clean the grating ruler. Monthly: Conduct probe repeatability testing and backup software parameters. Every year: Entrust the original factory or a qualified third party to conduct annual precision calibration and comprehensive maintenance. Safety precautions: Perform mechanical component inspection after power off to avoid accidental triggering. Backup data: Before software reinstallation or parameter adjustment, backup important data such as the probe library and coordinate system. Original factory support: When the fault cannot be located, promptly contact Hexagon technical support (providing machine serial number, software version, and fault description). Through the above systematic troubleshooting, most faults can be located and resolved. For complex problems, keeping complete diagnostic records will greatly help professional engineers respond quickly.
