Daily maintenance and troubleshooting strategies for room temperature centrifuges
Date: 2025-08-04Read: 1

1、 Daily maintenance: core measures to extend equipment lifespan

Centrifugal chamber cleaning and moisture prevention
Cleaning after operation: After each use, wipe the indoor and outdoor surfaces of the centrifuge with neutral detergent to avoid residual corrosive liquids. Attention should be paid to the position of the temperature sensor in the freeze centrifuge to prevent damage.
Long term shutdown treatment: If the equipment is idle for a long time, a silicone desiccant should be placed in the centrifuge room and the door cover should be closed to keep it dry and prevent corrosion of the motor bearings.
Rotor maintenance and calibration
Cleaning and drying: After removing the rotor, clean it with neutral detergent and invert it to dry to avoid water accumulation in the centrifuge tube holes. If necessary, it can be sterilized and stored at high temperature.
Lubrication and storage: Apply medical Vaseline or grease to the center hole of the rotor and store it in a dry and ventilated place to prevent damage to the oxide layer.
Balance calibration: Regularly check the rotor for corrosion spots, cracks, or grooves. If found, immediately stop using it and contact the manufacturer for replacement.
Maintenance of drive shaft and transmission components
Handle with care: When installing or removing the rotor, it is necessary to operate vertically to avoid damaging the cone surface due to collision of the drive shaft.
Lubrication treatment: Wipe the drive shaft and rotor taper holes with a soft cloth, and apply a small amount of lubricating grease to reduce wear.
Control box and workbench protection
Cleaning standard: Use only a soft cloth and neutral cleaning agent to wipe the control box and countertop, avoiding scratching the paint layer or causing electrical components to short circuit.
Tool management: It is prohibited to place tools such as rotors and centrifuge tubes on the panel to prevent scratches or misoperation.
Maintenance of cooling system
Regular dust cleaning: Clean the dust on the ventilation windows and condenser to ensure the normal operation of the cooling fan and prevent motor overheating.
Environmental requirements: The centrifuge should be placed in a well ventilated environment without direct sunlight to avoid high ambient temperatures that may affect heat dissipation efficiency.
2、 Troubleshooting: Quickly locate the problem and fix it
The motor is not running
Power inspection: Confirm that the power cord, plug, and socket are not damaged, and the fuse is not blown. If the voltage is too low, check the capacity of the power grid or power lines.
Component maintenance: Check the wear degree of the carbon brush (replace if it exceeds 1/3 of the total amount), clean the commutator and brush contact surface, and ensure that the motor reaches the rated speed.
Abnormal speed (unable to reach the set value or fluctuating)
Sensor troubleshooting: Check if the speed sensor circuit is broken or if there are surface stains, and replace the sensor if necessary.
Transmission system inspection: Adjust the tension of the transmission belt to avoid slipping and insufficient speed.
Load balancing: Ensure that the samples are evenly placed and weight errors are controlled within the allowable range to prevent speed fluctuations caused by imbalance.
Intense vibration or abnormal noise
Rotor status: Check if the rotor is deformed, if it is installed correctly, and if there are any foreign objects in the centrifuge tube holes.
Installation environment: Confirm that the centrifuge is placed on a stable table, the foundation bolts are tightened, and avoid vibration sources around it.
Bearing maintenance: Clean or replace bearings that are lacking in oil or have a lot of dirt to reduce frictional resistance.
Temperature too high
Heat dissipation optimization: Clean the dust on the heat sink to ensure good ventilation; Reduce the ambient temperature.
Operation management: Proper shutdown and rest to avoid motor overheating caused by prolonged continuous operation.
Brake failure
Brake pad replacement: If the brake fails, check whether the brake pads are worn and replace them with new parts if necessary.
Adjustment of tightness: When the brake is too tight, adjust the brake device to the appropriate tightness to avoid affecting the stability of the rotor stopping.
Display malfunction (not lit or garbled)
Power supply and wiring: Check if the power supply is normal and if the display screen connection cable is loose.
Control board maintenance: If the display screen is damaged or the control board malfunctions, contact the manufacturer to replace the components.
The door cover cannot be opened or closed
Mechanical component inspection: Replace damaged potentiometers, springs, or door lock motors, and adjust stuck door lock mechanisms.
Sealing ring maintenance: Regularly check whether the door cover sealing ring is deformed or aged, and replace it in a timely manner to avoid leakage or abnormal temperature.
3、 Operating standards and safety precautions
Sample placement: Ensure that the centrifuge tubes are symmetrically placed to avoid vibration or rotor damage caused by unbalanced loads.
Capacity limitation: Overspeed or excessive operation is strictly prohibited to prevent rotor fatigue fracture or sample overflow.
Emergency handling: In case of abnormal operation (such as severe vibration, odor), immediately stop the machine and disconnect the power supply to avoid forced operation causing greater losses.
Professional maintenance: Non professionals are not allowed to disassemble the core components of the equipment (such as motors and control boards), and must contact the manufacturer's after-sales service for handling.
