oxygen analyzerIt is a key equipment for monitoring the oxygen content in mixed gases, and the stage setting of its pretreatment system directly affects the measurement accuracy and equipment life. Reasonably adjusting the preprocessing level can effectively cope with complex working conditions and ensure data reliability.
1、 The core role of preprocessing
The preprocessing system is responsible for removing impurities from the sample gas and protecting the sensor from damage. Common interferences include dust particles, oily volatiles, water vapor, and chemically corrosive gases. If not adequately addressed, these impurities can clog the gas path, contaminate the sensor surface, resulting in measurement deviations and even equipment malfunctions. The preprocessing level refers to the number of purification devices used in series, which needs to be flexibly configured according to the site conditions.
2、 Key basis for adjusting levels
1. Impurity concentration: In high dust environments (such as cement plants), a two-stage powder removal system consisting of a G-grade primary filter and an F-grade precision filter is required; Activated carbon adsorbers should be installed as the third stage in places containing oil and steam (air compressor exhaust).
2. Temperature control: High temperature flue gas needs to be cooled by a condenser to below the dew point to prevent water vapor condensation from blocking the pipeline. In low temperature environments, heating and heat tracing are required to maintain smooth airflow.
3. Chemical reaction risk: When acidic gases (such as SO ₂) are present, an alkaline neutralization tank needs to be added; When the reducing gas (H ₂ S) exceeds the standard, an oxidation catalyst conversion module should be added.
3、 Typical configuration scheme
| Working condition type | Recommended level | Main components | Applicable scenarios |
| Ordinary clean gas | Level 1-2 | Single filter+desiccant | Laboratory calibration |
| Industrial exhaust gas | Level 3-4 | Cyclone separator+filter membrane+adsorbent | Boiler exhaust gas monitoring |
| Wet corrosive gas | Level 4-5 | Dehumidifier+anti-corrosion coating+gas washing cylinder | Chemical workshop safety inspection |
4、 Key points for dynamic adjustment
1. Regular evaluation: Check the pressure difference of each level of filter element every quarter, and replace it when the resistance exceeds twice the initial value. Observing the zero drift trend of the sensor, abnormal fluctuations indicate preprocessing failure.
2. Seasonal adaptation: Reduce the amount of desiccant used appropriately in winter to prevent excessive dehydration, and increase the frequency of condensation drainage in summer. During the rainy season, dehumidification units can be temporarily added.
3. Troubleshooting: When there is a slow response, check whether each preprocessing unit is saturated in sequence. Sudden high readings may indicate filter penetration, while continuous low readings require checking for chemical adsorption saturation.
5、 Practical operation example
The monitoring of gas pipelines in a certain steel plant adopts four levels of pretreatment:
1. Cyclone dust collector removes large particles;
2. PTFE membrane filter intercepts micron sized dust;
3. Neutralize acidic gases in NaOH solution washing tower;
4. Control the dew point of the silicone drying tube.
This configuration allows the electrochemical sensor to operate continuously for 6 months without calibration, effectively extending the maintenance cycle.
The number of preprocessing stages for an oxygen analyzer is not necessarily better, as excessive processing can increase flow resistance and affect response speed. The ideal solution is to determine the main interfering components through on-site research and configure them according to the principle of "targeted treatment+moderate redundancy". Establishing a replacement ledger in daily maintenance, combined with historical data analysis to optimize the combination of levels, is necessary to achieve both economical and reliable measurement results.
