Application fields of X-ray fluorescence spectrometer
Date: 2025-11-25Read: 1
X-ray fluorescence spectrometerXRF is a fast and non-destructive elemental analysis instrument that can simultaneously detect multiple elements from constants to trace amounts. It is easy to operate and has simple sample pretreatment. It is widely used in quality control, material analysis, compliance testing, and other scenarios in multiple industries. Specific application areas are as follows:
1、 Mineral and Geological Exploration
Used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of elements in ore, soil, rock and other samples, quickly detecting the content of metal elements such as iron, copper, lead, zinc, gold, silver and non-metallic elements such as silicon, aluminum, calcium, etc., providing data support for mineral resource exploration and grade evaluation.
During on-site investigation, portable XRF can be used to quickly screen ore components without the need for sample digestion, thereby improving exploration efficiency.
2、 Metallurgy and Metal Materials Industry
Raw material inspection: Detect the content of impurity elements (such as sulfur, phosphorus) and alloy elements (such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum) in iron ore, scrap steel, alloy raw materials, etc., to ensure that the raw materials meet production standards.
Quality control of finished and semi-finished products: Analyze the elemental composition and content of metal materials such as steel, aluminum alloy, copper alloy, etc., and verify whether the product meets the standards (such as whether the chromium and nickel content in stainless steel meets the 304/316 model standard).
3、 Chemical and Building Materials Industry
Chemical product testing: Analyze heavy metals (such as lead, cadmium, mercury), harmful elements, and filler components (such as calcium carbonate, talcum powder) in plastics, rubber, coatings, pigments, and other products to ensure product compliance.
Building material analysis: detecting major elements such as silicon, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, and radioactive elements (such as radium and thorium) in cement, glass, ceramics, tiles, etc., to ensure the quality, safety, and environmental protection requirements of building materials.
4、 Electronic appliances and RoHS compliance testing
Rapid detection of RoHS restricted elements such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, etc. for electronic components, circuit boards, batteries, household appliance casings, etc., to meet environmental compliance requirements in the European Union, China, and other regions.
Real time monitoring of the elemental content of raw materials and semi-finished products during the production process to prevent unqualified products from entering the market.
5、 Environmental Monitoring and Food Safety
Environmental testing: Analyze heavy metals (such as lead, arsenic, cadmium) and harmful elements in soil, water quality, and atmospheric particulate matter, assess the degree of environmental pollution, and provide data basis for environmental governance.
Food safety: Detect heavy metals (such as cadmium in rice and lead in vegetables) and trace elements (such as iron and zinc) in food raw materials and finished products to ensure food safety and comply with national food safety standards.
6、 Archaeology and Cultural Relics Protection
Conduct non-destructive element analysis on cultural relics such as bronze ware, pottery, and porcelain to determine their material, origin, and production process (such as the proportion of copper, tin, and lead in bronze ware), providing scientific support for cultural relic identification and protection plan formulation.
7、 Precious metal detection
Quickly analyze the purity of precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum (such as the K value of gold and the Pt content of platinum), as well as their impurity elements, which are widely used in quality testing in the jewelry industry and precious metal recycling industry.
