With the increasing global demand for precious metals, mining companies are seekingFaster and more economical methodsTo explore and evaluate these precious resources. Following the introduction in the previous issueLangduo Technology provides comprehensive solutions for the mining and mineral processing industriesIn this issue, we will delve deeper into this topicHow portable technology can achieve breakthroughs in precious metal exploration.
Scene reproduction: precise positioning of precious metals
Precious metals, such as gold, silver, and platinum group elements (PGEs), are typically stored in hard to reach areas deep underground. Traditional exploration methods are not only time-consuming but also costly.

However, by usingNiton handheld XRF analyzerGeologists can nowQuick identificationAreas containing these precious metals, even inExtremely low concentrationIn the situation.
1. Application examples
In the Bushveld Complex in South Africa, including Melensky Reef and Upper Group 2 Reef (UG2), a large amount of PGE is present. These strata are mainly composed of pyroxene, plagioclase, and metamorphic peridotite, with a typical PGE grade of 3-10 g/t. In order to study the application of handheld XRF analyzer in PGE exploration, 63 samples were collected along the stratigraphic profile. Then the samples were analyzed using ICP by a commercial laboratory (SGS Lakefield).Using Niton handheld XRF analyzerTwo forms of analysis were conducted on these samples (direct irradiation samples and crushed samples slurry).

Figure 1. The stratigraphic distribution of target elements (Pt, Pd, and Au) and exploration elements (Cu and Ni) in the Bushveld Complex in South Africa indicates that Cu and Ni analysis using a Niton handheld XRF analyzer can be used to locate Pt, Pd, and Au mineralization zones.
2. Result
Through laboratory analysis, it was found that the exploration elements Ni and Cu have a significant positive correlation with the target precious metals Pt, Pd, and Au. This indicates that Ni and Cu can be effectively used as probe elements to indicate the position of precious metals. by usingNiton XL3t handheld XRF analyzerThe analysis of these exploration elements confirmed theirCan accurately locate formations containing high concentrations of Pt, Pd, and Au.
