3、 Structure and Composition
(1) Box structure
It is usually made of high-quality stainless steel plates or engineering plastics, which have good corrosion resistance and sealing properties. The internal space of the box is designed according to different testing requirements, and can accommodate various sizes of tested products. The sealing design of the box is crucial to ensure that there is no water leakage during the testing process, in order to guarantee the accuracy of the test results.
(2) Spray system
• Nozzle: Testing with different IP levels requires different types and specifications of nozzles. For example, for IPX3 and IPX4 level water spraying and splashing tests, a swing pipe nozzle is used to achieve water spraying at different angles through the swing of the swing pipe; For IPX5 and IPX6 level water spray testing, use nozzles with specific inner diameters to ensure the specified water flow rate and spray intensity; For the IPX9 level high temperature and high pressure water spray test, a dedicated high pressure nozzle is equipped to withstand the spray of high temperature and high pressure water.
Water pump: provides stable water pressure and flow for the sprinkler system. According to different testing levels, the power and performance of the water pump vary to ensure that it can meet the corresponding water flow and pressure requirements. For example, IPX6 rating requires a water pump with high flow rate and high water pressure to provide a water flow rate of 100L/min ± 5L/min and corresponding water pressure.
• Pipes and valves: used to connect water pumps, nozzles, and control the flow of water. Pipelines should have good pressure resistance and corrosion resistance, and valves should be able to accurately control the size and opening of water flow to achieve water flow control at different testing levels.
(3) Control system
Controller: Advanced programmable logic controller (PLC) or microcomputer controller is used, which can accurately set and control test parameters such as test time, water flow rate, water pressure, temperature (for IPX9 testing), etc. The controller has an intuitive operating interface, making it convenient for users to set parameters and monitor the testing process.
Sensors: including flow sensors, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, etc., used for real-time monitoring of parameters such as water flow rate, water pressure, and temperature of the sprinkler system, and feedback data to the controller. The controller automatically adjusts the system operation based on the feedback information from the sensors, ensuring the accuracy and stability of the test parameters.
Timer: Accurately record the testing time to ensure that the testing is carried out according to the specified time and meets the testing time requirements of different IP levels.
(4) Auxiliary system
Water tank: used to store test water, the capacity of the water tank should be determined based on the testing requirements and the continuous operation capability of the equipment. Water tanks are usually equipped with a water level control system, which can automatically replenish water when the water level is too low to ensure the normal progress of testing.
Drainage system: After the test is completed, it can promptly drain the water inside the box. The drainage system design should be reasonable and the drainage speed should be fast to ensure that the box can dry quickly and prepare for the next test.
Lighting system: The box is equipped with lighting equipment to facilitate users to observe the condition of the tested product during the testing process.
4、 Working principle
The IP waterproof test box simulates different water environmental conditions and places the tested product in specific environments such as water flow rate, water pressure, and spray angle to observe whether the product has faults such as water ingress, moisture, and short circuits, in order to evaluate the waterproof performance of the product. Specifically, according to different IP waterproof level requirements, the test chamber sprays water or immerses the tested product in water in a specific way through a sprinkler system, while the control system precisely controls parameters such as testing time, water flow rate, and water pressure. During the testing process, sensors monitor various parameters in real-time to ensure the accuracy and stability of the testing conditions. After the test is completed, check whether the appearance, function, and electrical performance of the product are normal, in order to determine whether the product meets the corresponding IP waterproof level standards.
5、 Application Fields
(1) Electronic and electrical industry
Mobile terminals such as smartphones and tablets: detect their waterproof ability in situations such as rain and splashes that they may encounter during daily use, ensuring that the product can still be used normally in humid environments or accidental contact with water, and protecting internal electronic components from water damage.
Laptops and desktop computers, especially those that have certain outdoor usage needs or may come into contact with water, are tested with an IP waterproof test box to ensure that they can resist water intrusion to a certain extent and extend the product's service life.

• Stage lamps: during the stage performance, they may be affected by the effects of spray and watering. Through waterproof test, they can ensure that the stage lamps can work stably in various performance environments and provide good lighting effects for the performance.
6、 Key points for selecting IP waterproof test box
(1) Test level requirements
Select a suitable test chamber based on the IP protection level requirements of the tested product. If the product only needs to meet lower IPX1-IPX4 level testing, then a test box with relatively simple functions and lower configuration can be selected; If the product needs to meet high-level tests such as IPX5-IPX9, especially the high-temperature and high-pressure water spray test of IPX9, it is necessary to choose a test chamber with corresponding high-pressure nozzles, high-temperature water supply system, and higher performance control system to ensure accurate simulation of high-level water environmental conditions.
(2) Test product size and quantity
Consider the size of the tested product and the number of products that need to be tested at a time, and choose a test box with an appropriate internal space size. If the product size is large or multiple products need to be tested simultaneously, it is necessary to choose a test box with spacious internal space to ensure that the product can be placed reasonably inside the box for testing, and the sprinkler system can cover all products.
(3) Testing accuracy and stability
For some products that require high waterproof performance, it is necessary to choose a test box with high testing accuracy and good stability. High precision flow sensors, pressure sensors, and temperature sensors can more accurately control test parameters and ensure the reliability of test results. A stable control system can ensure the stability of various parameters during the testing process and reduce testing errors.
7、 Usage and maintenance
(1) Precautions for use
Preparation before testing: Before using the IP waterproof test box for testing, carefully check whether all components of the equipment are normal, including the sprinkler system, control system, water tank, drainage system, etc. According to the IP rating requirements of the tested product, accurately set testing parameters such as testing time, water flow rate, water pressure, temperature, etc. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the tested product is installed firmly and avoid movement or damage during the testing process.
• Testing process monitoring: During the testing process, closely observe the operation of the test chamber and the status of the tested product. Real time monitoring of test parameters through the control system ensures the stability and accuracy of the parameters. If any abnormal situations are found, such as nozzle blockage, abnormal water flow, equipment alarm, etc., the test should be stopped in a timely manner for inspection and handling to avoid affecting the test results or damaging the equipment.
Safe operation: The IP waterproof test box involves water spraying and electrical control during operation. Operators must strictly follow safety operating procedures to avoid safety accidents such as electric shock and slipping. After the test is completed, wait for the water inside the box to drain and dry before cleaning and maintaining the equipment.
(2) Key points of maintenance and upkeep
• Regular cleaning: Regularly clean the inside and outside of the test chamber to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the equipment. Remove scale and impurities from the nozzle and pipeline to prevent nozzle blockage from affecting the test results. At the same time, it is necessary to clean the dirt and sediment inside the water tank to ensure clean water quality and extend the service life of the water tank and pump.
• Component inspection and replacement: Regularly check the working status of key components such as nozzles, water pumps, sensors, valves, etc. If problems such as nozzle wear, decreased water pump performance, sensor failure, valve leakage, etc. are found, they should be replaced or repaired in a timely manner to ensure the normal operation and testing accuracy of the equipment.
