With the advancement of technology and social evolution (such as low birth rates and sustainable Earth issues), industries such as semiconductors, aerospace, medical equipment, energy, smart electric vehicles, 5G communication and 3C electronics, precision molds, etc. extensively use advanced materials that are lightweight, high hardness, and heat-resistant (such as SiC, sapphire, advanced ceramics, quartz, composite materials, and superalloys). Traditional CNC machine tools often encounter problems such as low processing efficiency, short tool life, and poor workpiece quality (such as edge cracking) when processing the aforementioned advanced materials. The integration of ultrasonic vibration assisted cutting technology on traditional CNC machine tools has been proven to effectively improve tool life and material removal rate by several times when processing these advanced materials, while also reducing cutting forces, decreasing the probability of workpiece damage, and improving surface roughness. So, the future winning point of the CNC machine tool industry will lie in advanced material processing technology and equipment that are efficient, high-quality, tough, and lightweight, rather than traditional precision metal cutting technology.
