Working principle and usage precautions of thermal gas mass flowmeter
Date: 2025-11-26Read: 24
  Thermal gas mass flowmeterIt is an instrument based on the principles of thermal diffusion and thermal distribution, which calculates flow rate by measuring the amount of heat carried away by gas.
  Thermal gas mass flowmeterMeasure the proportional relationship between the heat loss of the heating object and the gas flow rate when gas flows through it. Specifically, it reflects the flow rate by maintaining a constant temperature difference between the sensor section and the actual process temperature, utilizing the amount of heat carried away by gas flow. The larger the gas mass flow rate, the more significant the cooling effect, and the greater the energy required to maintain the differential temperature.
Precautions for using a thermal gas mass flowmeter:
To avoid interference from dust/condensate: The sensor is sensitive to impurities and requires the installation of a filter (with a filtration accuracy of ≤ 5 μ m) at the front end; Wet gases need to be dehydrated to prevent condensation from damaging heating elements.
Installation requirements:
Plug in model: It is necessary to ensure that the probe is inserted into the center of the pipeline, and the front and rear straight pipe sections are ≥ 5D/3D (D is the inner diameter of the pipeline);
Pipeline type model: horizontally installed to avoid liquid accumulation caused by vertical installation.
Calibration requirement: Calibration is required once a year or once every six months to ensure stable accuracy; Some models support on-site self calibration.
Oxygen specific note: When measuring oxygen, it is necessary to choose an "oil-free design" model to avoid the risk of oxidation reaction, and the explosion-proof level must meet the on-site requirements.
