Operation and use of composite salt spray test chamber
Date: 2025-12-02Read: 2
The composite salt spray test chamber simulates the salt spray corrosion environment to evaluate the corrosion resistance of materials or products. Its operation and use must follow strict procedures to ensure the accuracy of the test. The following are detailed operation steps and key precautions:
1、 Preparation before operation
Equipment inspection
Confirm that the appearance of the test chamber is undamaged, the power cord and air pipe connections are normal, and all valves are in the closed state.
Check whether the spray system, heating system, humidity control system and other components are normal.
Ensure that there is sufficient heat dissipation space (at least 80cm) around the test chamber, and the ambient temperature is maintained between 15-30 ℃.
solution preparation
Prepare a 5% ± 1% NaCl solution according to the standard, use deionized water or distilled water, and adjust the pH value to 6.5-7.2.
The Acid Saltwater Test (CASS) requires an additional addition of 0.26 grams of copper chloride (CuCl ₂ · 2H ₂ O) per liter of solution.
Sample preparation
Clean the surface of the sample, remove oil and pollutants, mark and fix it on the sample rack according to standard requirements.
Ensure that the samples maintain a certain distance between each other, avoid mutual influence, and do not touch the inner wall of the box.
2、 Operation steps
Power supply and equipment startup
Connect the power supply, turn on the main power switch, and power on the control panel.
The device performs a self check for about 30 seconds to observe for any abnormal alarms.
Parameter Settings
Temperature setting: The salt spray test is generally set at 35 ± 2 ℃, and the drying stage can be set at 40-60 ℃.
Humidity setting: Set according to the test requirements (such as 85% RH ± 5%).
Test cycle: set the cycle times and time of spray, drying and wetting.
Spray mode: select continuous spray, intermittent spray or dry wet alternate mode.
Salt water tank filling
Open the lid of the salt water tank and add the pre prepared salt solution to the upper limit mark to ensure there are no impurities.
Start the test
After confirming that the parameters are correct, press the "start" button and the device will start heating up.
When the temperature in the box reaches the set value, the spray system will start automatically to observe whether the spray is even.
operation monitoring
Check whether the temperature and spray amount in the tank are stable every day, and replenish the solution in the brine tank regularly (it is recommended to check every 24 hours).
It is strictly prohibited to open the door of the test chamber to avoid affecting the stability of the testing environment.
3、 End of experiment and equipment maintenance
Test termination
After reaching the preset time, the device automatically stops or manually stops the test.
Wear protective gloves to take out the sample, gently rinse the surface salt deposits with clean water, and place it in a standard environment (such as temperature 23 ± 2 ℃, humidity 50 ± 5%) to dry for 1-2 hours.
Equipment cleaning
Empty the residual solution in the salt water tank, and wash the spray tower, collector and other parts with clean water.
Wipe the inner wall of the box, keep it dry, and avoid residual salt solution from corroding the equipment.
Shutdown Sequence
Turn off the spray switch, set the temperature to room temperature, and turn off the power when the temperature in the box drops below 40 ℃.
Shut down all systems and ensure that the equipment stops running.
4、 Key precautions
safety protection
Wear protective goggles and gloves during operation to avoid salt spray from contacting the skin and eyes.
The test chamber must be installed horizontally, otherwise it may cause alarms or unstable control.
regular maintenance
Check the air compressor, solenoid valve and other components monthly, and replace the lubricating oil of the oil mist device every quarter.
Calibrate the temperature and spray volume every 6 months to ensure the accuracy of the test.
data recording
Detailed records of experimental parameters, environmental conditions, and sample changes, including corrosion degree, appearance changes, etc.
Fault handling
Familiarize yourself with the meanings of common fault codes (such as E01 temperature sensor fault, E02 water shortage alarm, etc.), press the emergency stop button when an alarm occurs, reset and restart after troubleshooting.
