Storage method of COD reagent
Date: 2025-01-16Read: 1
The following is the storage method for COD reagents:
environmental conditions
-Temperature control: It should be stored in an environment of 15 ℃ -30 ℃ to avoid high temperature causing reagent volatilization or deterioration, and also to prevent low temperature from causing reagent crystallization. For some special COD rapid detection test kits, the ideal storage temperature may be between 2 ° C and 25 ° C, please refer to the product manual for details.
-Light protection: It should be placed in a cool and dark place. For example, the reagent cabinet in the laboratory should be kept away from windows or covered with a light shielding cloth to prevent direct sunlight from decomposing the chemical substances in the reagents, which may affect their stability and accuracy.
-Humidity regulation: Keep the storage environment dry, and the relative humidity is generally controlled at 40% -60%, which is more suitable. A hygrometer can be used to monitor environmental humidity. If the humidity is too high, desiccants can be placed or dehumidification equipment can be used to reduce the humidity; If the humidity is too low, it may cause excessive evaporation of moisture in the reagent, affecting its performance.
Packaging and Sealing
-Original packaging preservation: Try to store COD reagents in their original packaging, as the original packaging is usually specially designed and processed to better protect the reagents, maintain their stability and shelf life. If the original packaging is damaged or lost, a clean, dry, and well sealed container should be selected for transfer and storage, and ensure that the new container does not react chemically with the reagent.
-Sealing operation: Whether using the original packaging or other containers, ensure good sealing. After using the reagent, the bottle cap or sealed bag opening should be tightened immediately to prevent oxygen, moisture, and other impurities from entering the reagent and affecting its quality and performance. For some volatile or air sensitive reagents, double-layer sealing or adding desiccants can be used to further ensure the sealing effect.
Classification and Identification
-Classified storage: Store COD reagents according to their different types, concentrations, specifications, and batches to avoid mutual interference and confusion between different reagents. Specialized reagent cabinets or drawers can be used to place reagents of the same type in the same area, and clearly labeled on the cabinets or drawers.
-Clear identification: Attach clear labels to each reagent bottle or packaging, indicating important information such as reagent name, concentration, specifications, batch, expiration date, etc., for easy retrieval, use, and management. For expired, deteriorated or damaged reagents, they should be promptly cleaned out of the storage area and properly disposed of.
Safety and Inspection
-Safety protection: Due to the potential corrosiveness, toxicity, or other hazards of COD reagents, safety protection measures should be taken during storage. Place it in a well ventilated area, away from sources of fire, heat, and flammable materials, and equip it with necessary firefighting equipment and first aid medicine. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure the safety of the storage area and prevent unrelated personnel from accidentally touching the reagents.
-Regular inspection: Regularly inspect the storage of COD reagents, including their appearance, color, odor, expiration date, etc. If any abnormal situations are found, such as reagent discoloration, precipitation, odor, etc., they should be dealt with or replaced in a timely manner. In addition, it is necessary to regularly check whether the temperature and humidity of the storage environment meet the requirements, and whether the sealing of the reagents is good.
