Working principle of sliding friction testing machine
Date: 2025-07-31Read: 1
  Sliding friction testing machineIt is an experimental device used to simulate and measure the friction performance of materials under sliding friction conditions. It is widely used in materials science, mechanical engineering, automotive industry and other fields, and can help evaluate key parameters such as wear resistance and friction coefficient of materials.
The working principle of the sliding friction testing machine is to make two contact surfaces slide relative to each other, while measuring parameters such as friction force and positive pressure during the process, and then calculating the friction coefficient (friction coefficient=friction force/positive pressure), and evaluating the wear resistance of the material through wear loss (such as mass loss and volume loss).
The specific process usually involves:
Fix the sample on the test bench (lower sample), and the other friction pair (upper sample, such as grinding block, steel ball, etc.) is in contact with the surface of the sample;
By using a driving device (such as a motor) to cause the upper or lower specimen to undergo reciprocating linear or rotational motion, relative sliding can be achieved;
Real time monitoring of frictional force during sliding process using force sensors, while applying constant or varying positive pressure through loading devices;
After the experiment, analyze the friction and wear characteristics of the material based on parameters such as sliding distance and time.
  Sliding friction testing machineThe application scenarios include:
Material research and development: Evaluate the wear resistance of materials such as plastic, rubber, and metal, and optimize formula design.
Lubricant testing: Comparing the anti friction effects of different lubricants to guide industrial applications.
Daily maintenance:
Cleaning and dust prevention: Wipe the surface of the equipment after each use to prevent dust from entering the electrical control box.
Lubrication and maintenance: Apply lubricant to transmission components every month to reduce wear and tear.
