The heat sealing tester is a precision equipment used to test key parameters such as heat sealing strength, heat sealing temperature, and pressure of packaging materials. Its performance stability directly affects the accuracy of the test results. Daily maintenance and upkeep should revolve around five core areas: mechanical structure, temperature control system, pressure system, electrical system, and cleaning management. The specific methods are as follows:
1、 Daily maintenance after use (after each test)
1. Clean the surface and key components of the equipment
Cleaning of heat sealing knife: The heat sealing knife is the core working component, and after the test, its temperature should be lowered to below 50 ℃ (to avoid burns). Gently wipe the knife surface with a soft cloth or degreasing cotton soaked in anhydrous ethanol to remove residual packaging film (such as melted residue of PE, PP, etc.). It is strictly prohibited to use a hard scraper or metal tool to scrape, in order to prevent damage to the coating on the blade surface (affecting the uniformity of heat sealing).
Cleaning of compression platform: Wipe the surface of the compression silicone pad/PTFE pad with a dry cloth to remove foreign objects or film debris; If the silicone pad is found to be damaged, deformed, or heavily adhered, it should be replaced in a timely manner (it is recommended to spare 1-2 silicone pads of the same specification).
Body cleaning: Wipe the equipment casing, operation panel, and sample stage with a damp cloth to avoid dust and oil accumulation; The buttons and display screen on the operation panel should be gently wiped with a soft cloth, and direct spraying with alcohol or corrosive cleaning agents is prohibited.
2. Check the status of consumables and vulnerable parts
Confirm the alignment between the heat sealing knife and the pressing platform: observe whether there is any misalignment when closing. If there is a slight deviation, it can be fine tuned through the "adjusting screw" on the side of the equipment (refer to the instruction manual for operation).
Check the gas source connection (if it is a pneumatic device): Confirm that there is no air leakage at the gas pipe interface, whether the pressure gauge pointer has returned to zero, and release the remaining pressure in the pipeline before disconnecting the gas source.
2、 Regular maintenance (weekly/monthly/quarterly, adjusted according to usage frequency)
1. Weekly maintenance: Focus on lubrication and functional inspection of mechanical moving parts
Lubricate the movable shaft: The lifting guide rail of the heat sealing knife, the bearings of the pressing mechanism and other moving parts need to be lightly coated with lightweight lubricating oil (such as sewing machine oil) to ensure smooth lifting and avoid jamming (1-2 drops per time are sufficient, excessive amounts can easily adsorb dust).
Functional calibration check:
Temperature control calibration: Use an independent thermocouple thermometer close to the surface of the heat sealing knife to compare the temperature displayed on the equipment screen with the actual temperature. If the error exceeds ± 2 ℃, it needs to be adjusted through the "calibration mode" of the equipment (operated by professional personnel).
Pressure calibration: Place a pressure sensor on the compression platform, set the standard pressure (such as 0.2MPa), and check whether the actual pressure is consistent with the set value. If the deviation is too large, adjust the air pressure regulating valve or replace the pressure sensor.
2. Monthly maintenance: Focus on in-depth inspection of electrical systems and core components
Electrical circuit inspection: Turn off the device power and unplug the plug, open the device side cover, check whether the power cord, heating tube terminal, and temperature controller connection wire are loose, aged, or damaged. If there are exposed wires, wrap them with insulating tape or replace the circuit.
Check the status of the heat sealing knife: Observe whether there are scratches, deformations, or coating peeling on the surface of the heat sealing knife. If the heat sealing knife does not heat up locally (there are no heat sealing marks at the corresponding position of the film during inspection), it may be a damaged heating tube. Contact the manufacturer to replace it with a heating tube of the same specification.
Silicone pad/PTFE pad replacement: If the pad body undergoes permanent deformation, surface hardening, or is prone to film adhesion during heat sealing, it should be replaced in a timely manner (ensuring that the size matches the pressing platform and the installation is flat without wrinkles).
3. Quarterly maintenance: Focus on overall performance calibration and replacement of aging components
Comprehensive performance calibration: Contact equipment manufacturers or third-party metrology institutions to perform professional calibration on the three core parameters of temperature, pressure, and heat sealing time, and issue calibration reports (ensuring that the test results comply with industry standards, such as GB/T10004-2021 "Plastic Composite Films and Bags for Packaging").
Replacement of aging components:
Check the service life of electrical components such as heating tubes, temperature controllers, relays, etc. (generally 3-5 years). If there are frequent trips or large temperature fluctuations, it is recommended to replace spare parts in advance.
Pneumatic equipment needs to check whether the cylinder sealing ring is leaking. If it sinks slowly when pressed, the sealing ring needs to be replaced (to avoid pressure instability causing deviation in heat sealing effect).
3、 Long term storage and maintenance (when not in use for more than one month)
Cleaning and drying: Thoroughly clean the inside and outside of the equipment, especially the heat sealing knife and pressing platform, to ensure that there are no residual films or oil stains; Open the side cover of the device and let the internal moisture dry naturally for 1-2 days.
Power and gas outage: unplug the power cord, disconnect the gas source connection, and release all pressure in the pipeline; Remove vulnerable parts such as silicone pads and spare heat sealing knives, pack them in sealed bags, and store them in a dry place.
Protective measures: Cover the equipment with a dust cover and place it in a ventilated, dry, and sun free environment to prevent moisture from causing corrosion of electrical components or aging of silicone pads.
Through standardized daily cleaning, regular calibration, and targeted maintenance, the detection accuracy and operational stability of the heat sealing tester can be effectively ensured, avoiding experimental data distortion or testing interruption caused by equipment failure.
