Power frequency voltage breakdown testerIt is a key equipment used to test the insulation performance of materials, and its operation must strictly follow safety regulations and testing procedures. The following are specific usage steps and key points:
1、 Preparation before the experiment
Equipment inspection
Confirm that the tester, power cord, and grounding wire are intact and undamaged, without any signs of damage or aging.
Check if the high-voltage output terminal, electrodes, sample fixtures, and other components are clean to avoid impurities affecting the test results.
Ensure good grounding of the equipment, and connect the grounding terminal to the distribution box ground wire through a dedicated ground wire to reduce electromagnetic interference and ensure safety.
Environment Preparation
The experimental environment should be dry, dust-free, and well ventilated to avoid insulation performance degradation or equipment failure caused by humidity or dust.
When the test chamber door is opened, the power cannot be applied to the input terminal of the high-voltage transformer, ensuring that there is no voltage on the high-voltage side and ensuring operational safety.
Sample preparation
The sample needs to be clean, dry, and undamaged, with no scratches or contamination on the surface, otherwise it may affect the breakdown voltage value.
Select sample size and shape according to testing standards (such as IEC, GB, etc.) to ensure compliance with testing requirements.
Power supply and preheating
The equipment needs to be connected to a 16A single-phase 220V AC socket, with voltage matching to avoid equipment damage.
Turn on the main power switch and preheat for 15-20 minutes to stabilize the internal temperature of the equipment and ensure testing accuracy.
2、 Equipment settings and parameter configuration
AC/DC voltage switching
Communication test: The short-circuit rod is inserted into the high-voltage insulation tower, and the high-voltage equalizing ball outputs AC voltage.
DC test: Remove the short-circuit rod, connect the high-voltage silicon stack to the test circuit, and output pulsating DC voltage from the high-voltage equalizing ball.
Attention: When conducting DC testing, the computer software needs to select the DC state, otherwise the test results will be inaccurate.
Parameter Settings
Voltage setting: Set the initial voltage, step voltage, and termination voltage according to the testing standards (such as gradually increasing from 0kV to 50kV).
Time setting: Set the test time (usually 1 minute) and observe the performance of the sample under continuous voltage.
Current limit: Set a current upper limit (such as 20-30mA) to prevent sample damage or equipment overload.
Protection function: Enable overcurrent protection, voltage loss protection, leakage protection, etc. to ensure the safety of equipment and personnel.
software operation
Open the computer, enter the testing software interface, and enter the login password (if available).
Select test mode (AC/DC) and voltage curve drawing function (real-time recording of boost process).
Set the data storage path for subsequent analysis.
3、 Experimental operation process
Sample installation
Install the sample correctly between the electrodes, ensuring good contact and avoiding partial discharge or arc.
Close the test chamber door, confirm that the safety door is locked, and the software prompts "safety door closed" before starting.
Start the device
After confirming that the parameters are correct, start the tester and gradually increase the voltage of the equipment.
Observe the changes in voltage and current, record the breakdown voltage value (the voltage at which the sample breaks down) and current value.
exception handling
If the current is maintained at 20-30mA for a long time, stop the test immediately and check if there is any malfunction in the sample or equipment.
If the sample catches fire during the experiment, cut off the power first, and then use a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire to avoid the risk of electric shock.
Test completed
After the test is completed, gradually reduce the voltage to zero and turn off the power of the tester.
Use a discharge rod to discharge the high-voltage output terminal, ensuring that the remaining charge is fully discharged.
Open the test chamber door, take out the sample, and check for breakdown or damage.
4、 Post experimental processing
data organization
Record test parameters (voltage, current, time), breakdown voltage values, and sample status.
Analyze the test data to determine whether the sample meets the standard requirements (such as whether the breakdown voltage is higher than the specified value).
Report writing
Write a test report, including test conditions, sample information, test results, and conclusions.
Please find attached the voltage time curve (if supported by the equipment) to visually demonstrate the testing process.
Equipment maintenance
Clean the surface of the equipment and electrodes to avoid residue affecting the next test.
Regularly check the status of equipment (such as grounding wires, power lines, high-voltage insulation towers) to ensure normal operation.
When not in use for a long time, disconnect all power cords and avoid excessive tilt angle during transportation (to prevent transformer oil from flowing out).
5Power frequency voltage breakdown testerSafety precautions
Operational Security
Maintain a safe distance during testing and avoid touching high-voltage components.
Wear insulated gloves and goggles to prevent damage from electric arcs or splashes.
In case of emergency, immediately press the "emergency stop" button to cut off the power supply.
protective measures
After the DC test, a discharge rod must be used to discharge the high voltage equalizing ball (contact time>5 seconds) to avoid residual charges causing injury.
When the test chamber door is opened, there is no voltage on the high voltage side, but it is still necessary to confirm that the equipment has been completely powered off before operation.
Equipment protection
To avoid equipment overload operation, the test voltage should not exceed the rated value of the equipment (such as 50kV).
Regularly calibrate equipment to ensure the accuracy of test results.
