Guidelines for Diagnosis and Troubleshooting of Common Malfunctions in Low Temperature Brittle Testing Machines

The low-temperature brittleness testing machine is a key equipment for detecting the low-temperature brittleness characteristics of materials, and its common faults are mostly concentrated in the refrigeration system, impact mechanism, control system, and sample processing stage. The following is a systematic troubleshooting guide:
1、 Refrigeration system malfunction
Phenomenon: inability to cool down, slow cooling rate, and large temperature fluctuations.
Diagnosis:
Compressor malfunction: Check if the compressor is running and listen for a steady sound. If the compressor does not start, it may be due to motor damage or starting capacitor failure, and the motor resistance and capacitor capacity need to be measured.
Refrigerant leakage: Observe whether there are oil stains in the refrigeration pipeline. If there are, there may be a leak. Need to find the leakage point and repair it before replenishing refrigerant.
Poor sealing of the insulation box: Check if the sealing strip of the insulation box door is aging or damaged, which may cause air leakage.

Replace damaged compressor or starting capacitor.
Repair the leakage point and replenish refrigerant (requires professional operation).
Replace the sealing strip to ensure that the box door is tightly closed.
2、 Impact mechanism malfunction
Phenomenon: The pendulum cannot reset, it lags/makes abnormal noise during impact, and the impact energy display is abnormal.
Diagnosis:
Insufficient lubrication of the pendulum shaft: Check if the shaft is dry, causing poor rotation.
Brake device wear: Observe whether the brake components are severely worn, which affects the reset of the pendulum.
Abnormal sensor signal: Check if the sensor wiring is loose or damaged, causing inaccurate energy display.

Regularly add specialized lubricating oil to the shaft.
Replace worn brake components.
Calibrate or replace the energy sensor to ensure secure wiring.
3、 Control system malfunction
Phenomenon: The control panel is unresponsive, parameters cannot be set/saved, and data recording is abnormal.
Diagnosis:
Poor power contact: Check if the power plug and circuit connection are loose or damaged.
Control motherboard malfunction: If the power supply is normal but the control panel is unresponsive, it may be a damaged motherboard.
Software program error: The control system software may have malfunctioned, causing parameters to be unable to be saved or data recording to be abnormal.

Check and tighten the power plug and wiring connections, and replace damaged power cords.
Restart the device and reset the program. If the issue persists, contact the manufacturer to repair the motherboard.
Update or reinstall control system software.
4、 Sample related faults
Phenomenon: The sample becomes loose after installation, splashes during impact, and exhibits abnormal fracture morphology.
Diagnosis:
Wear and deformation of sample support: Check whether the sample support is worn or deformed, which may cause unstable clamping.
Insufficient clamping force of the clamping device: Adjust the clamping force to ensure that the sample is firmly fixed.
Sample size does not meet requirements: Check if the sample size meets the standard to avoid testing abnormalities caused by size deviation.

Replace the deformed sample support.
Adjust the clamping force to ensure that the sample does not loosen during the impact process.
Prepare samples strictly according to standards to ensure dimensional and notch accuracy.
