Oil free vacuum pumps are widely used in fields with strict cleanliness requirements, such as food packaging, pharmaceutical freeze-drying, laboratory analysis, semiconductor manufacturing, and environmental protection equipment, due to their advantages of no need for lubricating oil, no oil and gas pollution, and easy maintenance. In long-term operation, problems such as medium corrosion, particle suction, overheating, or seal aging may cause a decrease in pumping speed, insufficient vacuum degree, abnormal noise, or even shutdown. Scientifically identifying faults in oil-free vacuum pumps and taking targeted measures is the key to ensuring system stability and process cleanliness.

1、 The vacuum degree cannot reach the set value
Reason: Air intake leakage, high exhaust back pressure, rotor/blade wear or contamination.
resolvent:
Check all pipeline joints, flanges, and sealing rings (such as O-rings) for aging and looseness, and use soap bubble method or helium leak detector to detect micro leaks;
Ensure that the exhaust port is unobstructed, the back pressure should be ≤ 0.2 bar, and avoid connecting to a sealed container;
If dealing with dust or corrosive gases (such as acid mist), install a pre filter or condenser, and regularly clean the chamber.
2、 Increased operating noise or significant vibration
Due to internal carbon buildup, particle jamming, or bearing wear:
After stopping the machine, manually turn the rotor. If the resistance is uneven, it indicates that the rotor clearance is blocked by foreign objects and needs to be disassembled and cleaned;
Check if the intake filter is clogged (recommended to replace every 500 hours) to prevent excessive negative pressure from causing motor overload;
If there is a "click" sound accompanying old models, it may be due to the failure of synchronous gears or bearings, and professional maintenance is required.
3、 Motor overheating or automatic shutdown
The root cause is continuous overload operation or poor heat dissipation:
Avoid operating under extreme vacuum (such as<1mbar) for a long time, and increase the buffer tank appropriately to reduce the load;
Clean the dust accumulation on the motor fan cover and heat sink to ensure good ventilation in the environment;
Check if the power supply voltage is stable (fluctuation ≤ ± 10%). If the voltage is too low, it will cause an increase in current and temperature.
4、 White smoke or peculiar odor emitted from the exhaust outlet
Typical examples include condensation of water vapor or decomposition of media:
If inhaling moist gas, the white smoke is mostly water vapor, which is a normal phenomenon, but it is necessary to strengthen the drying of the front end;
If there is a burnt smell, it may cause carbonization of plastic parts or residual organic matter due to high temperature. Stop the machine immediately for inspection;
For media with poor chemical compatibility (such as strong solvents), PTFE coating or all stainless steel pump head models should be selected.
