What are the ways to troubleshoot carbon steel pressure reducing valves

As a key equipment in fluid control systems, the operational stability of carbon steel pressure reducing valves directly affects the safety and efficiency of the system. The following is an explanation from three aspects: fault symptoms, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting strategies:
1、 Pressure regulation failure
Output pressure too high
Adjustment spring failure: The spring deformation or fracture causes the valve core opening to be unable to be restricted, and the same specification spring needs to be replaced.
Stuck valve core: Impurities or scaling cause the valve core to be in a normally open state, requiring disassembly and cleaning of the valve core and valve seat, and in severe cases, grinding and repair.
Malfunction of the pilot valve component: The pilot valve needle valve is blocked or the diaphragm is broken, causing the main valve to fail to close properly. The pilot valve component needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Output pressure too low
Insufficient inlet pressure: Abnormal upstream supply or pipeline blockage, it is necessary to check the pump body and pipeline patency.
Internal leakage: The sealing components are aging or the valve core and seat are worn, and the sealing material needs to be replaced and the mating surface needs to be re ground.
Damping hole blockage: affecting pressure signal transmission, special tools are needed to clear the damping hole.
2、 Abnormal traffic

Improper selection: The diameter is too small to meet the flow requirements and needs to be reselected based on the maximum flow rate.
Channel blockage: Impurities accumulate and restrict the flow of the medium. It is necessary to disassemble and clean the valve body cavity with cleaning solution.
Low gas temperature: causing an increase in density and a decrease in actual flow rate. A gas heating device can be installed in the system to restore normal flow rate.
3、 Mechanical jamming and leakage
Valve disc movement obstructed
Geometric accuracy deviation: The valve core and valve body are stuck due to excessive roundness deviation, and high-precision accessories need to be repaired or replaced.
Damaged guiding device: The valve disc deviates from the motion trajectory, and the guiding components need to be replaced and the assembly clearance adjusted.

Sealing surface damage: Leakage caused by scratches or corrosion can be repaired using laser cladding technology. If there is extensive damage, it is recommended to replace it as a whole.
Loose connection: Insufficient pre tightening force of bolts leads to leakage, requiring re tightening according to standard torque and regular calibration.
4、 Vibration and noise
Fluid dynamics factors: Excessive flow velocity can cause turbulent vibration, requiring optimization of pipeline design and installation of buffer tanks.
Unstable installation foundation: The unstable fixation of the equipment exacerbates vibration, and shock-absorbing pads should be added and brackets reinforced.
Pressure pulsation: The pressure behind the valve fluctuates frequently, and it is necessary to check the response characteristics of the pilot valve and adjust the damping parameters.
