Which materials is the FT Rockwell hardness tester suitable for
Date: 2025-04-25Read: 0

The FT Rockwell hardness tester is suitable for various materials, and the following are some common types:

metal material
Steel: including various carbon steels, alloy steels, tool steels, etc. For example, common steels such as 45 steel and Q235 steel, as well as Cr12MoV steel used for mold manufacturing, can be tested for hardness using an FT Rockwell hardness tester to evaluate material properties and processing quality.
Nonferrous metals: such as aluminum and aluminum alloys, copper and copper alloys, etc. Materials such as 2A12 aluminum alloy commonly used in the aerospace industry and T2 copper commonly used in the electrical industry can be measured for hardness using an FT Rockwell hardness tester to determine whether they meet relevant standards and usage requirements.
plastic material
Thermoplastic: such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), etc. These plastic materials have certain requirements for hardness in different application scenarios. For example, PVC used for manufacturing plastic pipes can be tested for its hardness characteristics through Rockwell hardness testing, in order to control product quality.
Thermosetting plastics: such as phenolic plastics, epoxy resins, etc. In the field of electronics and electrical appliances, epoxy resin is often used as packaging material. Testing its hardness through FT Rockwell hardness tester helps evaluate the performance of packaging materials and ensure the reliability of electronic components.
Composite materials: such as glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP), carbon fiber reinforced composite materials, etc. These composite materials are widely used in aerospace, automotive and other fields. Measuring the hardness of composite materials through FT Rockwell hardness tester can to some extent reflect the curing degree and performance of composite materials, providing important basis for product quality control.
It should be noted that the hardness range of different materials varies. When using an FT Rockwell hardness tester for testing, it is necessary to choose the appropriate indenter and load according to the specific situation of the material to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results.
