Recently, it was learned from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment that in order to implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, the Environmental Impact Assessment Law of the People's Republic of China, and the Marine Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China《Regulations on Environmental Protection Management of Construction Projects》To standardize and guide the environmental impact assessment of marine engineering construction projects in accordance with laws and administrative regulations, and to prevent marine environmental pollution and ecological damage from the source, approval is hereby granted《Technical Guidelines for Environmental Impact Assessment - Marine Ecological Environment》To establish national ecological environment standards and publish them.

The standard specifies environmental protection, management and monitoring, and marine ecological impact assessment in terms of seawater quality/marine sediment/marine ecology.
The analysis of inorganic elements in seawater has important scientific and practical significance for understanding the functions of marine ecosystems, protecting the marine environment, assessing the impact of human activities, and predicting climate change. The necessity of elemental analysis in seawater is reflected in the following aspects:
Biogeochemical cycleInorganic elements, especially trace metal elements, in seawater play an important role in the biogeochemical cycling processes of marine organisms. These elements are involved in all aspects of marine life, from the formation of cytoplasm in primary productivity to protein synthesis. For example, some trace metals such as Fe, Ni, Cu, and Zn are crucial for the growth of organisms.
Ecosystem Health:Some inorganic elements in seawater are essential trace elements for the growth of marine organisms, directly affecting the growth and carbon and nitrogen fixation of marine phytoplankton, and are key regulatory factors for primary productivity in the ocean. Meanwhile, the concentration changes of these elements are also related to the health of marine ecosystems.
Pollution monitoringSome inorganic elements in seawater, such as lead, are mainly pollutants emitted by human activities. Monitoring these elements helps evaluate the impact of human activities on the marine environment and provides scientific basis for pollution control.
