Some common classification methods for laboratory high-temperature furnaces
Date: 2025-12-12Read: 2
Laboratory high-temperature furnaceIt is an experimental equipment used for heat treatment, sintering, melting or reaction of materials, samples or processes in high temperature environments (usually>1000 ℃). It is widely used in fields such as materials science, metallurgy, ceramics, semiconductors, energy, and environment.
Based on core parameters and application scenarios,Laboratory high-temperature furnaceIt can be divided into multiple types, and the following are some common classification methods:
Classified by temperature range:
Medium high temperature furnace (1000-1400 ℃): suitable for sintering of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) electrolytes, simulation of high-temperature molten glass solidification process in nuclear waste treatment, high-temperature activation of precious metal supported catalysts for catalyst preparation, high-temperature physical property testing (such as thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity, phase transition temperature measurement), geological simulation of lithospheric thermal evolution experiments, combustion synthesis self propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) preparation of refractory compounds, etc.
Classified by structure:
Tube furnace: suitable for heating and sintering small workpieces and samples. The working method is to heat quartz or corundum furnace tubes in the furnace, and place workpieces in the heating area and constant temperature area.
Box type furnace: It looks like a box and is a traditional muffle furnace, but it has more powerful functions and better insulation performance. The furnace is generally square in shape, and the size specifications can be customized. The door is opened in the front, and the opening direction is outward pulling. There is also a door stopper inside the door, which can provide better insulation. This is a commonly used high-temperature furnace that is suitable for most laboratories.
Atmosphere furnace: a high-temperature furnace that integrates the dual characteristics of box furnace and tube furnace, suitable for larger samples and experiments and production with atmosphere requirements. The appearance of the atmosphere furnace is similar to that of a high-temperature furnace, and on this basis, an air inlet and an air outlet have been added.
Well furnace: From the appearance, it is similar to box furnace and atmosphere furnace, both of which have a box shape. But structurally, it is very similar to a crucible high-temperature furnace. The furnace chamber of the well furnace is vertically arranged, and samples and workpieces can be taken and placed vertically. The furnace door is opened above the furnace, and the vertical opening and closing door is convenient for experiments that require automation improvement, such as automatic experiments with a robotic arm.
