Henan University of Technology is located in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. It is a jointly built university by the People's Government of Henan Province and the National Grain Administration, and a key university construction university with distinctive features in Henan Province. It has been selected for the 2011 Plan, the Basic Capacity Building Project for Central and Western Universities, the Engineer Education and Training Plan, and the Agriculture and Forestry Talent Education and Training Plan.

The school was founded in 1956 and has been under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Grain, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Domestic Trade; Undergraduate education was launched in 1959, master's education began in 1981, doctoral education began in 2013, and in 2017, the qualification for recommending master's students was approved. In 2018, it was approved as a doctoral degree granting unit; In 1998, it was placed under the management of Henan Province, and in 2010, the People's Government of Henan Province and the National Grain Administration signed a contract to jointly build Henan University of Technology.[1]

As of December 2019, the school has three campuses: Lianhua Street Campus, Songshan Road Campus, and Zhongyuan Road Campus, covering a total area of 1.938 million square meters and a total construction area of 1.062 million square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 689 million yuan. It has 23 colleges, 74 undergraduate majors, 3 doctoral degree authorized first level disciplines, 21 master's degree authorized first level disciplines, 13 master's degree authorized categories, 24 provincial key disciplines, 1720 full-time teachers, and more than 35000 full-time students.
