Three dimensional optical molecular imaging system: principles, technological breakthroughs, and application prospects
Date: 2025-06-11Read: 3
The 3D optical molecular imaging system is a technology that utilizes optical signals to obtain molecular information within living organisms and reconstruct 3D structures. The principle is based on optical signals such as fluorescence and scattering. Fluorescent molecules are excited by lasers of specific wavelengths or scattered light signals are detected. These signals are then captured by high-sensitivity detectors and processed by computers to reconstruct three-dimensional images.
In recent years, significant technological breakthroughs have been made in three-dimensional optical molecular imaging systems. On the one hand, researchers have improved the depth and resolution of imaging by developing detectors with higher sensitivity and more complex image reconstruction algorithms. For example, combining CT imaging technology can provide higher spatial resolution and depth information, enhancing the accuracy of soft tissue imaging. On the other hand, the development of multimodal imaging technology, such as combining PET, CT and other imaging techniques, overcomes the limitations of single optical imaging and provides more comprehensive physiological and pathological information.
In terms of application prospects, 3D optical molecular imaging systems have broad application value in biomedical research, early disease diagnosis, and drug development. It can observe in real-time the distribution and metabolic process of drugs in animal bodies, as well as their impact on lesions, and evaluate the effectiveness of tumor treatment. Meanwhile, by observing the fluorescence signals in the body, physiological and pathological processes such as tumor development, inflammatory response, and angiogenesis can be studied. In addition, the 3D optical molecular imaging system can also be used for real-time monitoring of gene expression and labeling, providing powerful tools for gene function analysis. With the continuous development of imaging technology, algorithms, and detectors, the depth, resolution, and accuracy of 3D optical molecular imaging systems will be further improved, bringing more possibilities for medical research.
