What are the methods to maintain portable ultrasonic flaw detectors
Date: 2025-11-26Read: 1
As a precision non-destructive testing equipment, the maintenance quality of portable ultrasonic flaw detectors directly affects the accuracy of testing results and the service life of the equipment. The following is a systematic maintenance guide based on industry standards and technical requirements:
1、 Daily cleaning and basic protection
1. Body and screen cleaning: After each use, use a dry soft cloth to wipe the outer shell to remove oil stains, metal debris, and dust. It is strictly prohibited to use organic solvents such as alcohol and acetone to prevent corrosion of the casing or screen coating. Screen cleaning should use a dedicated electronic screen wiping cloth to avoid scratches from sharp objects. Stubborn stains can be lightly wiped with a damp cloth dipped in neutral detergent.
2. Interface and cable maintenance: Check for loose or oxidized traces on the probe interface, power socket, and USB port. If any abnormalities are found, they should be tightened or cleaned in a timely manner. The probe cable should be coiled into a circle with a diameter of ≥ 20cm to avoid creases that may cause internal wire breakage.
2、 Deep maintenance of core components
1. Probe system management: Immediately erase the residual coupling agent after detection to prevent corrosion caused by infiltration into the chip gap. Check the status of the chip daily and replace it immediately if cracks or detachment are found.
2. Battery lifecycle management: Charge in a timely manner when the battery level is below 20% to avoid capacity degradation caused by over discharge. Remove the battery and store it separately during long-term storage to prevent leakage and corrosion of the circuit.
3、 Environmental Control and Operating Standards
1. Temperature and humidity adaptive regulation: The optimal storage temperature is -20 ℃~+50 ℃, and the relative humidity is ≤ 70%. On site inspection requires the installation of shock-absorbing brackets and the use of safety ropes during high-altitude operations to prevent falls.
2. Electromagnetic compatibility management: Keep away from strong magnetic field sources. If there are large motors or transformers around, maintain a distance of at least 3 meters. The key operation force should be controlled between 0.5~1N, excessive force may cause contact wear.
4、 Periodic calibration and software maintenance
1. Metrological performance verification: When the sensitivity deviation exceeds ± 2dB, it needs to be returned to the factory for calibration. Every year, a dedicated instrument is used to detect the frequency of the probe chip. If the deviation exceeds the nominal value ± 10%, the probe needs to be replaced.
2. Firmware upgrade and data security: Check for updates every quarter to fix potential vulnerabilities. Export detection data to the cloud or computer every month, delete invalid files to free up memory.
5、 Special scenario response strategies
1. Special climate adaptation measures: In low temperature environments during winter, it is necessary to preheat to above 0 ℃ before starting up; Avoid direct sunlight during high temperature periods in summer and install sunshades if necessary. Power on for half an hour every day in humid areas to prevent mold growth on circuit boards.
2. Transportation safety protection system: Adopting a double-layer packaging design, the main unit is wrapped in an anti-static bag on the inner layer, and the outer layer is filled with EPE pearl cotton cushioning. Lithium batteries must be declared during air transportation, and no more than 2 spare batteries should be carried with you.
