Safe operation and precautions for open vacuum tube furnace
Date: 2025-12-11Read: 0
Open type vacuum tube furnaceSafety operation and precautions should be established around vacuum acquisition, high-temperature operation, gas management, and emergency response to ensure that personnel, equipment, and samples are not injured or damaged during operation.
1. Safe operation begins with equipment inspection and preparation. Before use, the integrity of the furnace structure should be checked to confirm that there are no cracks in the heating tubes, the sealing flanges and joints are securely fastened, and the vacuum pump and pipeline connections are reliable. The vacuum gauge, temperature sensor, and pressure protection device need to be calibrated and within their validity period, with normal display and alarm functions. The sealing components at both ends of the heating tube should be intact and able to withstand the working temperature and vacuum requirements. The work area should be clean, well ventilated, and free from flammable materials. The power supply and grounding should comply with load and safety regulations.
2. The process of obtaining vacuum should be carried out according to the regulations. Before starting the vacuum pump, confirm that the valve status is correct to prevent oil vapor or impurities from flowing back into the furnace tube. Vacuumization should be carried out gradually, first opening the coarse vacuum valve and then opening the high vacuum valve to prevent excessive instantaneous pressure difference from damaging the seal or furnace tube. Observe the changes in vacuum gauge readings. If the rise is slow or there are fluctuations, check whether there are leaks in the pipelines and interfaces. After reaching the required vacuum level, close the exhaust valve and maintain a sealed state.
3. The heating operation must follow the set procedure. Start heating in a vacuum or protective gas environment, and the initial heating rate should not be too fast to prevent thermal stress from causing the furnace tube or sample to rupture. During the heating process, it is not allowed to open the furnace cover or destroy the vacuum at will, in order to avoid burns or pollution caused by the sudden escape of high-temperature gas. Temperature and vacuum changes should be continuously monitored. If temperature loss or abnormal decrease in vacuum is found, heating should be stopped immediately and the cause investigated. The furnace body with a water cooling system should ensure normal circulation of cooling water to prevent overheating of the furnace shell or sealing failure due to water interruption.

4. The placement and fixation of samples should meet the requirements. The sample must be placed steadily in a suitable position inside the furnace tube to avoid local overheating caused by contact with the tube wall outside the heating zone. Sealed or constrained measures should be taken for powder or fine particle samples to prevent airflow disturbance from entering the vacuum pump or contaminating the pipeline. Corrosive or reactive samples should be selected with compatible furnace tube materials and seals after fully understanding their properties, and monitoring should be strengthened during operation.
5. Precautions during operation include strictly prohibiting use beyond the designated range. Do not operate beyond the specified high temperature and vacuum degree of the equipment, and do not heat flammable, explosive, or volatile materials. Operators should wear insulated gloves and goggles, and high-temperature samples should be taken and stored after the furnace has cooled sufficiently. During operation, it is prohibited to touch the heating area and live parts at will to prevent burns or electric shock. When the vacuum pump is running, pay attention to changes in oil level and sound. If any abnormalities are found, stop the machine for inspection.
6. The emergency response process needs to be clearly defined in advance. In case of power outage, the heating should be turned off and the vacuum or protective gas state should be maintained to prevent air from entering the high-temperature furnace tube for oxidation or explosion. When the vacuum degree drops sharply or the temperature loses control, immediately cut off the heating power, close the relevant valves in sequence, open the safety exhaust or replace the gas, and wait for the temperature to drop to the safe range before checking. If the equipment produces abnormal noise, burnt smell or smoke, the power should be immediately cut off and personnel should be evacuated. The cause should be identified before continuing to use.
7. Daily maintenance is a continuation of safety. Regularly inspect the surface of the furnace tube and the condition of the seals, and replace them promptly if aging, cracks, or deformation are found. Vacuum pumps should be replaced and maintained according to regulations to maintain pumping efficiency. The cooling system cleans scale and impurities to ensure heat exchange efficiency. Regularly calibrate control software and sensors to ensure accurate data. Establish operation and maintenance records for easy traceability and review.
Open type vacuum tube furnaceThe safety operation and precautions cover inspection preparation, vacuum and gas management, temperature control, sample handling, operating taboos, and emergency response. Strictly implementing regulations can effectively prevent accidents, ensure stable operation of equipment and personnel safety.
