As one of the influential exhibitions in the photovoltaic industry, the International Solar Photovoltaic and Smart Energy Exhibition (SNEC) has always been regarded as the industry's "barometer" and "wind vane". This SNEC exhibition is a one-time event, with an exhibition area of over 380000 square meters, gathering more than 3600 companies from around the world to participate. Even though the industry is going through a new cycle, the exhibition site is still crowded and bustling every day. Major leading enterprises have achieved cost reduction and efficiency improvement, product upgrading, and opened up a new industrial pattern driven by new energy sources such as photovoltaics and energy storage through technological innovation.

The complete replacement of p-type with n-type is unstoppable

Improving battery conversion efficiency and reducing the cost per kilowatt hour are eternal themes in the photovoltaic industry. As the conversion efficiency of p-type batteries gradually approaches the ceiling, the n-type technology route stands out and becomes the "new favorite" of the industry.

The reporter felt on site that the presence of p-type products was rarely seen at this exhibition, and n-type products became the absolute mainstream. It is unstoppable for n-type products to completely replace p-type products.

At present, mainstream n-type batteries include TOPCon, heterojunction (HJT), BC technology, etc. Currently, TOPCon has become the flagship product of most enterprises due to its scale advantage. However, at this year's SNEC, TOPCon components showed little difference in conversion efficiency, wattage, or pattern, with component conversion efficiency mostly concentrated between 22% and 23%; On the contrary, new technologies such as heterojunction (HJT) and BC are more eye-catching, and the mass production efficiency of some products is even "rolled up" to 25%.

Longi Green Energy Hi-MO9 Component Products


BC technology company Longi Green Energy brings Hi-MO9 component products. It is reported that the product is based on Tairui silicon wafers and uses HPBC 2.0 battery technology independently developed by Longi. In the standard size of 2382mm × 1134mm × 30mm, the maximum component power is 660W, which is about 30W higher than TOPCon products, and the component rate can reach 24.43%; The first year's attenuation is 1%, and the following year's attenuation is only 0.35%. It is expected to enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year.

The theoretical limit conversion efficiency of HPBC cells is as high as 29.1%, higher than TOPCon and HJT's 28.7% and 28.5%, and close to the theoretical efficiency limit of 29.43% for crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells. ”Tang Yi, Senior Manager of Longji Green Energy Product Solutions Department, told China Electronics News reporters that in addition, BC batteries are a platform based technology that has the ability to stack with excellent battery technologies. Another company that promotes BC technology, Aixu Corporation, has released the "full screen" ABC module and announced that its maximum power reaches 700W, with a conversion efficiency exceeding 25%, making it the most mass-produced and delivered photovoltaic module in the world.

The absence of grid lines on the front of the battery is one of the advantages of the two products mentioned above. In the past, there were gaps left between the battery cells, but now we have eliminated these gaps through precise stacking and welding techniques. This means that the area occupied by the battery cells in the module increases, and the light receiving area of the module also becomes more. Heterojunction (HJT) and perovskite component products also perform well. Light storage fusion is becoming increasingly evident

Compared with traditional energy sources, renewable energy sources such as photovoltaics and wind power have problems such as intermittency and volatility. Under the requirement of grid stability, deep integration of photovoltaic and energy storage has become an inevitable trend.

At this year's SNEC, energy storage technology and products have become another "protagonist". It is worth mentioning that SNEC is mainly a photovoltaic exhibition, but in recent years, more and more energy storage manufacturers have participated, including not only battery companies and vertical energy storage manufacturers, but also solar energy companies such as Trina Solar, JinkoSolar, and Sunac, which are also moving towards the path of "photovoltaic storage integration".

JinkoSolar brings multiple newly upgraded optical storage solutions. Among them, the Blue Whale SunTera 5 MWh source grid side energy storage system is designed with five levels of protection from battery cells to the system, effectively preventing thermal spread; With the cluster level management scheme, the cycle charge discharge efficiency (RTE) has been improved by over 2%; Intelligent liquid cooling design can control the temperature difference of Pack within 2 ℃, thereby reducing system auxiliary power consumption by 20%.
