Guidelines for Fine Maintenance of Stereoscopic Microscopes
1、 Clean maintenance of optical systems
1. Graded cleaning process
-Basic dust removal: After daily use, gently blow the floating dust around the eyepiece, objective lens, and zoom knob with an ear wash ball to avoid particles scratching the lens.
-Deep cleaning: For fingerprints or oil stains, it is necessary to mix anhydrous ethanol and ether in a ratio of 3:7, soak them in specialized lens cleaning paper, and gently wipe the surface in one direction (circular wiping is prohibited). For resin lenses, acetone solvents are prohibited to avoid dissolving the coating.
-Internal cleaning of the optical path: Disassemble the spotlight assembly every quarter, use a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of xylene to remove dust from the gaps of the lens group, and pay attention to keeping the distance between each lens unchanged.
2. Construction of pollution prevention barriers
-When not in use for a long time, a dust cover should be put on and a silicone desiccant bag should be laid on the loading platform. Wear a mask during experimental operations to prevent droplet contamination, and immediately disinfect the workbench with 75% alcohol swabs after handling biological samples.
2、 Accurate tuning of mechanical structures
1. Lubrication management of moving parts
-The coarse and micro focusing mechanism needs to inject special low-temperature lubricating grease every six months. A micro injector is used to slowly penetrate along the joint of the guide rail, and then the focusing handwheel is repeatedly rotated to evenly distribute the grease.
-The planetary gear set inside the variable magnification turntable is disassembled and maintained once a year. After removing the aging grease, fluorine lubricating paste is reapplied to ensure that there is no jamming or abnormal noise during the magnification process.
2. Parallelism calibration technology
-When a height difference is found in the binocular field of view, loosen the fixing screw of the eyepiece tube and adjust the alignment of the two eyepiece axes by adding or removing shims. Use a laser collimator to assist in verifying the consistency of the optical axis, with an error controlled within ± 0.05mm.
3、 Efficiency optimization of lighting system
1. Strategy for extending the lifespan of light sources
-Although the LED cold light source does not require replacement of the filament, its driving circuit still needs to be regularly tested. Measure the stability of the power supply voltage every month, and install a voltage regulator when the fluctuation exceeds ± 5%.
-After using halogen lamps for 500 hours, even if the brightness is normal, they should be replaced actively to avoid color temperature deviation caused by filament evaporation. After installing the new light bulb, it is necessary to readjust the height of the spotlight to the optimal illumination area.
2. Maintenance of cooling system
-Clean the filter of the cooling fan every week. Dust accumulation and blockage can cause the internal temperature of the machine to rise, accelerating the aging of electronic components. If there is abnormal heating, auxiliary heat sinks can be installed on the side of the chassis.
4、 Scientific control of storage environment
1. Coordinated control of temperature and humidity
-The optimal storage conditions are temperature of 18-25 ℃ and relative humidity of 40% -60%. During the rainy season, a color changing silicone indicator desiccant can be placed and replaced promptly when the color changes from blue to red.
-Avoid placing the device directly at the air conditioning outlet, as sudden temperature changes can easily cause lens condensation. During the winter heating period in the north, it is recommended to equip humidifiers to maintain air humidity.
2. Electromagnetic protection measures
-Stay away from strong magnetic field sources (such as large transformers), and if necessary, install a metal shielding cover on the microscope. Before restarting after a long period of inactivity, power on and preheat for 30 minutes to dissipate moisture.
The maintenance of precision instruments is essentially a practice of reverence for the microscopic world. Establish a complete Equipment Health Record, recording the time, personnel, and specific operations of each maintenance, and forming a traceable quality control system. Only by integrating standardized processes into daily operating habits can stereomicroscopes always maintain their state and provide reliable visual support for scientific research and exploration.
