Implementation and Application of Microbial Sterilization Technology for Ultrasonic Offshore Platforms

Abstract: In the development of maritime activities and the exploitation of marine resources in China, there are a series of problems such as the difficulty in preventing marine fouling organisms from affecting the safety and service life of marine facilities, and the difficulty in estimating the economic losses caused, which have a negative impact on offshore oil extraction and production. This plan seeks the optimal power of ultrasonic waves to kill marine organisms by understanding the structure and growth of marine fouling organisms, using ultrasonic explosion-proof control system equipment, and improving the killing rate of ultrasonic waves on marine organisms. It is then promoted on offshore oil platforms to achieve the best economic benefits.

1. Project Introduction

Marine fouling organisms refer to animals, plants, and microorganisms that inhabit, adhere to, and grow on the bottom of ships, docks, buoys, and various artificial facilities, and have adverse effects on human economic activities. On offshore platforms, these fouling organisms damage the surface of metal structures, leading to localized corrosion. Larger fouling organisms can block water supply and drainage pipelines, seriously affecting marine facilitiesSafety and service life of the application.

This device can eliminate blockages caused by the adhesion of marine organisms on the inner walls of seawater pipelines and filters. It can also kill marine organisms and prevent them from entering the seawater system through the filter screen and causing pollution and blockage at the far end of the seawater gate. Therefore, the use of this technology for experimental research on marine fouling biological control has significant importance and promising development prospects.

2. Requirements for project control system

According to the requirements of the BZ28-2S offshore platform, the ultrasonic control cabinet has explosion-proof function, and both filter tanks are equipped with 4 ultrasonic transducers, which can interact with each otherSwitching, in addition to each filter tank4 The transducer can also interact with each otherSwitch. In addition, installation is also required on the pipeline6 A transducer is required, and it is required to be between three and threeSwitching between each other, so that two sets of ultrasonic equipment can work simultaneously and emit6.5KWThe workIf the equipment operates at its optimal working state, it can have a good effect on killing marine organisms.

3. Project operation and implementation

The project was officially put into operation on the Bohai 28-2S platform in March 2013 and is currently operating normally. By setting the optimal power of ultrasonic equipment and the requirements for on-site equipment operation, it has achieved a good effect on killing marine organisms.

4. Project equipment testing results

Based on our understanding of the on-site working conditions, we propose the following three solutions to test the killing rate of marine organisms using ultrasonic equipment: (1) Two sets of ultrasonic equipment are operating normally (with a set power of 70%), (2) the ultrasonic equipment is working at maximum power, and (3) the control system is modified on-site to allow four transducers in a filter tank to work simultaneously; The following conclusions can be drawn:

(1) After normal operation, ultrasonic equipment can kill marine organisms, with a killing rate of 89.09%;

(2)When the ultrasonic equipment increases power to its maximum(99%)Killing effect on marine organismsVery good, the killing rate of ultrasound equipment on marine organisms is94.70%KillRate increase5.61%;

(3) The modified control system has a killing rate of ultrasonic equipment on marine organisms96.02%, the killing rate increased when 4 ultrasonic devices were working simultaneously6.93%.

The on-site inspection results show that after increasing the power of the ultrasonic equipment, marine organisms were damaged and fragmentedThe significant decrease in particle size indicates that increasing power has indeed caused greater damage to organisms.Larger marine organisms have almost no living organisms, or their vitality is weaker, but their particle size is smallerSmall individuals such as juvenile and nauplious larvae, as well as live and strong vitality, have a significant impact onOur equipment still needs further improvement on how to kill extremely small individuals.

After 9 months of normal operation of the ultrasonic equipment, some actual effect photos were sent back on site as shown in the following figure. From the figure below, it can be seen that the ultrasonic equipment has played a good roleThe effect, operation9 The seawater filter tank pipeline has hardly been contaminated with biological residues in the past monthThe blockage indicates that ultrasonic equipment has a good killing effect on marine organisms. At the same time,We also found the optimal power suitable for killing marine organisms, achieving the goal of preventing and controlling fouling organismsThe effect can be further promoted on offshore oil platforms to achieve the best economic benefits.
