The difference between liquid-liquid separation extraction device and solid-liquid extraction device
Date: 2025-12-23Read: 1

The liquid-liquid separation and extraction device utilizes two immiscible liquids for substance transfer, while solid-liquid extraction extracts active ingredients from solid raw materials through solvents.

1、The outstanding advantages of liquid-liquid separation and extraction are reflected in the processing efficiency.
Due to the large contact area and fast mass transfer rate between liquids, the entire process can be completed in a continuous flow state, making it particularly suitable for large-scale industrial production. This technology is particularly friendly to temperature sensitive substances and has a relatively wide operating temperature range. However, there is a problem of difficulty in solvent recovery, and emulsification is prone to occur when the densities of the two phases are close, which affects the separation efficiency.

2、The solid-liquid extraction device exhibits excellent selectivity.

By adjusting the type of solvent and extraction time, the extraction of target components can be precisely controlled. The equipment structure is relatively simple, the investment cost is low, and it is suitable for small and medium-sized production. Its limitation lies in the long extraction cycle, and the particle size and porosity of the solid material directly affect the extraction efficiency. When dealing with viscous materials, clumping is prone to occur, leading to uneven solvent penetration.

3、In practical applications, material characteristics often determine the choice of technology.
The advantages of liquid-liquid extraction are obvious when processing liquid raw materials; For solid materials such as plant extraction and mineral processing, solid-liquid extraction is more suitable.
In terms of energy consumption, liquid-liquid extraction requires additional phase separation equipment, while solid-liquid extraction requires consideration of solvent evaporation loss.

Some devices have integrated the use of two technologies, first obtaining crude extracts through solid-liquid extraction, and then performing fine separation through liquid-liquid extraction.
This combination method not only retains their respective advantages, but also makes up for the shortcomings of a single technology, providing new ideas for the separation of complex systems.
