Common problems in the use of graphite digestion analyzer
Date: 2025-12-01Read: 2

The graphite digestion instrument adopts graphite furnace heating method and silicate insulation method, which has the advantages of fast, efficient, energy-saving, and convenient digestion. Its unique digital serial port design can achieve remote control. It has been successfully used for sample pretreatment in industries such as environmental protection, chemical, food, medicine, and biochemistry.

Common problems in the use of digestion equipment:

What is the difference between graphite digestion analyzer, microwave digestion analyzer, and aluminum digestion analyzer?

Microwave digestion is a sample digestion process conducted under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions in a sealed environment, with the advantages of fast heating speed and short digestion time. The graphite digestion instrument is used for sample digestion under high temperature conditions, with the advantages of large sample processing volume, wider temperature control range, and high cost-effectiveness. The characteristics of graphite are good thermal inertia, faster heating rate, small temperature difference between pores, good corrosion resistance, and longer service life. The main advantage of aluminum digestion analyzer is its relatively low price.

2. Does the digestion instrument have to be used in a fume hood?

Yes, because during the digestion experiment, a large amount of irritating toxic and harmful gases are produced. There is a significant risk to the safety of laboratory personnel and the laboratory environment, and the country has mandated that similar digestion experiments must be conducted in a fume hood. At the same time, it is strongly recommended to install waste discharge devices and exhaust gas neutralization systems to reduce damage and ensure the safety of the experiment.

How long does it take to digest a batch of samples?

According to experimental standards, the color change of the sample is generally used as the criterion for judgment. Generally, the sample appears transparent blue-green and is digested for 30-60 minutes. The typical digestion time for regular samples is 2-3 hours.

What are the main influencing factors on sample digestion?

Inaccurate temperature control resulted in incomplete digestion of the sample.

The large temperature difference between the instrument holes leads to poor parallelism in sample digestion.

Insufficient amount of reagent added leads to incomplete digestion of the sample.

How to deal with harmful gases generated during digestion in experiments?

The harmful gases produced during digestion are mainly sulfur dioxide, which has strong irritant and corrosive properties. Placing it inside a fume hood can cause corrosion and pose a significant threat to the laboratory environment. There are currently two solutions: a simple waste discharge device that uses negative pressure suction from tap water to combine exhaust gas and tap water and discharge them into the sewer. Using an exhaust gas absorption system: The exhaust gas undergoes four processes: condensation, alkali neutralization, drying, and filtration, effectively treating the waste gas produced by digestion.
