What is the main function of a portable electromagnetic concentration meter?
Date: 2025-09-29Read: 0

The portable electromagnetic concentration meter is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction (indirectly calculating solute concentration by measuring solution conductivity, or directly detecting the concentration of magnetic media). Its core advantage is "portable, fast, non-contact/minimally invasive measurement", which does not require complex sample preprocessing and can obtain concentration data in real-time on site. Its main application scenarios are concentrated in fields that require flexible and fast analysis, such as on-site detection, mobile operations, emergency monitoring, etc., as follows:

1、 Industrial site: Production process and quality control
In industrial scenarios, it is often necessary to monitor the concentration of raw materials/semi-finished products/finished products in real time to avoid product defects or production accidents caused by concentration deviations. Portable electromagnetic concentration meters can meet the needs of "mobile inspection":
Chemical/Metallurgical Industry
Detecting the concentration of acidic and alkaline solutions (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide): For example, before feeding into a chemical reaction kettle, quickly verify on site whether the concentration of raw materials meets the standard (such as whether 30% hydrochloric acid meets the proportioning requirements); In the metallurgical pickling process, real-time monitoring of the acid concentration in the pickling tank is necessary to avoid insufficient rust removal caused by low concentration or corrosion of workpieces caused by high concentration.
Detecting electrolyte concentration: For example, in the electroplating industry, measuring the metal ion concentration of plating solutions (such as chrome plating solution and zinc plating solution) on site to ensure the thickness and uniformity of the coating; In battery production, quickly verify the solute concentration of electrolytes (such as lithium-ion battery electrolytes) to avoid affecting battery performance.
Food/Beverage Industry
Detecting sugar/additive concentration: During juice production, measure the sugar content of the juice on site (by correlating the sugar concentration with conductivity) to ensure consistent sweetness; Quickly detect whey protein concentration and control product formula in dairy processing.
Detecting the concentration of cleaning solution: For example, after cleaning food equipment, verify the residual concentration of alkaline cleaning solution (such as sodium hydroxide solution) on site to avoid contaminating food.
water treatment industry
Detecting drug concentration: For example, in sewage treatment sites, quickly measure the concentration of coagulants (such as polyaluminum chloride PAC) and disinfectants (such as sodium hypochlorite) added to ensure water treatment effectiveness (such as reducing turbidity and bacterial killing rate); In the circulating water system, monitor the concentration of corrosion inhibitors to prevent pipeline corrosion and scaling.
2、 Environmental Monitoring: Emergency and Field Pollution Investigation
In environmental monitoring, it is often necessary to quickly detect in scenes without fixed laboratories such as the wild, rivers, and pollution sources. Portable electromagnetic concentration meters can achieve "real-time sampling and analysis":
Monitoring of surface water/groundwater pollution
Detecting pollutant concentrations: For example, in a river leakage accident around a chemical factory, the concentration of heavy metal ions (such as copper, zinc, and lead, which require electromagnetic detection modules adapted to specific ions) and soluble pollutants (such as nitrate and phosphate) in the water body can be quickly measured on site, and the pollution range and risk level can be quickly delineated.
Detecting water salinity: such as monitoring groundwater intrusion in coastal areas, measuring water salinity on site (converted by conductivity), and determining whether seawater has penetrated into the underground freshwater layer.
Soil leaching water detection
In soil pollution investigation, soil leachate is prepared on site (soaked in pure water and filtered), and the concentration of pollutants (such as pesticide residues and heavy metals) in the leachate is detected by an electromagnetic concentration meter to quickly assess the degree of soil pollution, without the need to bring samples back to the laboratory (reducing transportation and waiting time).
Monitoring of solid waste leachate
Surrounding landfills and industrial solid waste yards, on-site detection of soluble pollutants (such as ammonia nitrogen and COD related indicators) concentration in leachate, real-time monitoring of leachate leakage to avoid pollution of surrounding water and soil.
3、 Agricultural Production: Water and Fertilizer and Soil Nutrient Management
In agricultural scenarios, it is necessary to accurately control water and fertilizer concentrations according to crop needs, or quickly assess soil nutrient status. Portable electromagnetic concentration meters can meet the demand for "real-time detection in the field":
Integrated concentration control of water and fertilizer
In drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation systems, the concentration of water and fertilizer solutions (such as nitrogen fertilizer and potassium fertilizer solutions) is measured on site to ensure that the amount of fertilizer applied meets the growth needs of crops (such as low concentration nitrogen fertilizer for vegetable seedlings and high concentration potassium fertilizer for fruiting), avoiding excessive concentration that can burn seedlings or low concentration that can lead to malnutrition.
Rapid detection of soil nutrients
Collect soil samples from the field and extract available nutrients (such as available phosphorus and potassium) from the soil using an extraction solution (such as neutral salt solution). Use an electromagnetic concentration meter to detect the nutrient concentration in the extraction solution, quickly determine soil fertility, and guide immediate fertilization (such as supplementing potassium fertilizer immediately in potassium deficient areas).
Irrigation water quality inspection
Detect the salinity and soluble impurity concentration of irrigation water, and avoid using water with high salinity and high pollutant concentration for irrigation (such as controlling water salinity for saline alkali land irrigation to prevent further soil salinization).
