Working principle and application fields of online flue gas analyzer
Date: 2025-09-14Read: 0
Smoke online analyzer is an instrument and equipment used for real-time monitoring of harmful components in industrial exhaust gases. With the increasing attention to environmental protection, it plays an increasingly important role in various industrial fields, especially in high polluting industries such as power plants, steel plants, cement plants, and chemical plants. Its main function is to monitor the concentration of pollutants in flue gas in real time, such as sulfur dioxide (SO ₂), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O ₂), particulate matter (PM), etc., and perform data analysis, alarm, control and other operations based on monitoring data to ensure that enterprise emissions comply with national or local environmental standards.

  Smoke online analyzerWorking principle:
1. Infrared absorption method: suitable for measuring gases such as sulfur dioxide (SO ₂) and carbon monoxide (CO). This method is based on the absorption characteristics of different gases in infrared spectra. The analyzer irradiates the flue gas with an infrared light source and calculates the gas concentration by detecting changes in the absorbed light intensity.
2. Chemiluminescence method: mainly used for measuring nitrogen oxides (NOx). This method utilizes a chemical reaction between nitrogen oxides and specific reagents to produce visible or ultraviolet light. The change in light intensity is detected by a photodetector to determine the concentration of the gas.
3. Electrochemical sensing method: commonly used for measuring oxygen (O ₂) and carbon dioxide (CO ₂). This method utilizes the principle of electrochemical reaction to generate an electric current through the reaction between the electrode and gas, thereby calculating the concentration value.
4. Laser scattering method: used for detecting particulate matter (PM). The laser beam is irradiated on the particles in the smoke, and the particles scatter the laser. The concentration of the particles can be calculated by detecting the intensity of the scattered light.
5. UV absorption method: used for monitoring ozone (O3) and certain special gases. By irradiating the smoke with ultraviolet rays, analyze the absorption of ultraviolet rays by the gas, and then calculate its concentration.
Application areas of online flue gas analyzer:
1. Power industry: The power industry is one of the main sources of flue gas emissions pollution, especially from thermal power plants. Power plants can monitor their emissions of pollutants in real-time, such as SO ₂, NOx, CO, etc., to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and optimize the combustion process to improve energy efficiency.
2. Steel industry: The large amount of harmful gases such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides emitted during the steel production process causes significant pollution to the environment. It can effectively monitor the concentration of these gases, help steel companies reduce emissions, and take effective control measures.
3. Cement industry: Cement production is one of the industries with high energy consumption and high pollution. Smoke often contains a large amount of pollutants such as NOx, SO ₂, and particulate matter. Enterprises can monitor emissions in real-time to ensure compliance with national environmental requirements.
4. Chemical industry: Toxic and harmful gases are often produced during chemical reactions, which can help chemical companies monitor harmful substances in flue gas, such as chlorides, ammonia, etc., to avoid environmental pollution.
5. Environmental monitoring: The government and environmental protection departments can use online analyzers to supervise industrial emissions and ensure that enterprises comply with emission standards. The data provided by the analyzer can serve as a basis for law enforcement and help formulate reasonable environmental policies.
