Dexter News | Skydel GNSS Simulator Engine releases two new features
Date: 2024-09-19Read: 1
In today's rapidly changing GNSS testing technology, every technological innovation heralds a new direction for industry development. Dexter is proud to announce that the Skydel GNSS simulation engine has officially launched two new capabilities - GNSS darkroom satellite arrival angle and phase simulation, and Skydel's support for up to 16 SDRs to be used simultaneously, helping to improve testing accuracy and efficiency!

1、 Skydel Anechoic implementation of GNSS darkroom satellite arrival angle and phase simulation

The Skydel Anechoic series products allow users to accurately simulate the real-world GNSS environment in a dark room, taking into account the arrival angle and phase characteristics of each satellite, and complete complex testing requirements for equipment in the real environment in the dark room.

The conventional GNSS simulator (GSG 7/8) generally sends GNSS navigation signals to the device under test through OTA, which can achieve conventional PNT related performance testing, but cannot conduct tests related to incident angle and direction. Therefore, its testing capabilities in GNSS anti-interference, CRPA testing, attitude and local occlusion testing are slightly insufficient.

Skydel Anechoic supports L1 \ \ L2 \ \ L5 multi satellite multi frequency testing for all constellations (Beidou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, Navic). The Skydel Anechoic has 32 independent RF outputs, allowing the system to drive 16 dual band antennas, with each link supporting 48dB amplification, 80dB variable attenuation, and a monitoring port for built-in spectrum analysis and monitoring.

Skydel Anechoic achieves real-time simulation of all satellites in the entire sky through revolutionary features such as automatic antenna position mapping, automatic time delay calibration, and automatic power loss calibration, as well as intelligent dynamic partitioning algorithms, fully considering the relative positions and arrival angles of satellites.

Skydel Anechoic can assist users in achieving:

  • Multipath and anti-interference testing

  • Partial occlusion test

  • Image testing of attitude for positioning and navigation

  • CRPA antenna performance testing

  • Satellite wave direction and motion testing

2、 Skydel supports up to 16 SDRs to be used simultaneously

After rigorous verification and testing by the Skydel technical team, it has been confirmed that the Skydel software hasgoodCapable of simultaneously controlling 16 SDR devices for high-precision GNSS simulation with high performanceThanks to its multi instance functionality, the software is able to synchronously simulate six different scenarios, six independent trajectories, and six test subjects accurately on a single interface, while ensuring that each instance can fully cover the entire constellation and frequency points.

This feature enables Skydel to more efficiently support users in conducting large-scale and high load testing needs such as multi reference station RTK simulation, drone formation simulation, and autonomous driving fleet simulation.

No longer need for multiple GNSS simulators to work together, output signals to multiple antennas or devices under test through different RF ports to simulate different trajectories in real time. The Skydel GNSS simulator engine provides a synchronization mechanism with an error of only 18ns, meeting the needs of a large number of high-precision time synchronization requirements. It provides testers with a high level of control, convenience, and flexibility, and can simulate multiple RF signals.
