principle

The purpose of using xenon arc light filtered through a filter to artificially age or expose the coating to radiation is to cause a certain degree of change in the selected properties of the coating after being exposed to a certain amount of radiation energy, or to achieve a certain degree of exposure radiation energy required for the coating to age. The performance selected for monitoring should be an important performance of the coating in practical applications.

The performance of the exposed coating can be compared with that of an unexposed coating (control sample) made in the same way, or compared with a coating with known performance that is simultaneously exposed (reference sample).

In natural climate, solar radiation is considered the main cause of coating aging, and the principle of exposure radiation under window glass is the same. Therefore, simulating solar radiation is crucial for artificial climate aging and artificial exposure to radiation. The xenon arc radiation source undergoes one of two different light filtering systems to change the spectral distribution of the radiation it produces, simulating the spectral distribution of ultraviolet and visible light from solar radiation, and simulating the spectral distribution of ultraviolet and visible light from solar radiation filtered through a 3mm thick window glass.
