1 Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the thickness of corrugated cardboard. These corrugated Z-boards are used for manufacturing packaging boxes or for use inside packaging boxes.
This standard is applicable for determining the thickness of various types of corrugated cardboard.
2. Reference standards
The provisions contained in the following standards constitute the provisions of this standard by reference in this standard. At the time of publication, all versions shown are valid. All standards will be revised, and parties using this standard should explore the possibility of using the latest versions of the following standards.
GB450-89 Sampling of Paper and Paperboard Samples
GB10739-89 Standard Atmosphere for Processing and Testing of Pulp, Paper, and Paperboard Samples
3 Experimental principles
The distance measured between two parallel planes of a thickness gauge on a corrugated cardboard sample under specified pressure.
4 Experimental instruments
The thickness gauge has a circular chassis and a cylindrical axial active plane concentric with the chassis. The contact area between the chassis and the active plane is (10 ± 0.2) cm2The non parallelism between measurement planes should be within 1/1000 of the diameter of the circular chassis.
The pressure applied by the columnar active plane is (20 ± 0.5) kPa. The instrument is accurate enough, and the measured data is precise to 0.05mm.
5. Sampling, Processing, and Preparation of Samples
5.1 Sample collection shall be carried out in accordance with GB450
5.2 The treatment of the sample shall be carried out in accordance with GB10739.
5.3 Sample preparation: Select a sufficiently large corrugated cardboard to be tested and cut an area of 500cm2(200mm x 250mm) sample to ensure the reading of 10 valid data No more than 2 samples shall be cut from the same sample, and there shall be no damage or other non compliant areas on the samples. Unless otherwise agreed by the relevant parties, there shall be no traces of organic processing
6 Test steps
Conduct tests under the atmospheric conditions specified in Chapter 5, with each sample measured twice at different points.
Place the specimen horizontally between the two planes of the instrument, with a minimum distance of 50mm between the edge of the specimen and the edge of the circular chassis. During measurement, gently press the movable plane onto the specimen at a speed of 2-3mm/min to avoid any impact and ensure that the specimen is parallel to the measuring plane of the thickness gauge. When the reading is stable but needs to be taken before the cardboard is "pressed down". Do not press your hands on the instrument or test piece when reading. Repeat the above steps to test the remaining four samples.
7 Test Report
The test report includes the following contents:
a. The number of this standard;
b. Date and location of the experiment;
c. Types and descriptions of the samples to be tested;
d. Atmospheric conditions for the experiment;
e. Report the average of all measured values in millimeters, accurate to 0.05mm;
f. Calculate its standard deviation (with 95% confidence);
g. Analysis of measurement errors;
h. Other explanations related to the experimental results.
