Nature Energy | Four methods to reduce impurity particles in the production process of lithium batteries
At present, although significant progress has been made in the research and development of lithium-ion battery materials in the laboratory, there are still many blind spots in quality control from the synthesis of a few grams of materials in the laboratory to the large-scale production of kilograms and tons. The author of this article focuses on the next generation of lithium-ion and lithium metal batteries, and provides opportunities and challenges for large-scale production of lithium batteries from the aspects of battery raw materials, positive and negative electrode processing technology, ultra lightweight current collectors, and cleanliness control during battery production.
This research achievement, "Lithium Batteries from Laboratory Research to Mass Production," was jointly completed by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, University of Washington, Pennsylvania State University, Mercedes Benz North America R&D Company, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, and published in the international journal Nature Energy.
