Maintenance knowledge of second-hand Shimadzu HIC-ESP ion chromatograph
Date: 2025-08-22Read: 1
For the maintenance of the second-hand Shimadzu HIC-ESP ion chromatograph, special attention should be paid to core components such as pumps, chromatography columns, suppressors, and conductivity detectors, and daily cleaning, regular calibration, and software updates should be carried out. The following are specific maintenance knowledge:
1、 Core component maintenance
Pump maintenance
Before and after each use, it is necessary to clean the pump and the entire flow path with ultrapure water to prevent residue crystallization or microbial growth.
When not in use for a long time, deionized water should be regularly supplied to prevent microbial growth in the pump and blockage of the one-way valve.
Avoid dry running of the pump and ensure that there is sufficient rinsing solution in the rinsing solution bottle to prevent damage to the sealing components.
Regularly inspect and replace the sealing components in the high-pressure pump (such as piston sealing rings, zirconium piston rods, inlet valves, outlet valves), and it is recommended to replace them at least once a year.
Maintenance of chromatographic columns
The chromatographic column should be sealed and stored in the eluent environment, avoiding rinsing with water to prevent deterioration.
Before entering the chromatographic column, the sample needs to undergo pre-treatment to remove interfering substances such as suspended solids, organic matter, and heavy metals.
When not in use for a long time, the chromatography column should be regularly cleaned with a washing solution to prevent internal drying and bacterial growth.
When installing the chromatography column, it is necessary to avoid the generation of bubbles and ensure that the direction of the eluent flowing in and out is correct.
Maintenance of suppressors
The inside of the suppressor needs to be kept moist, and it should be regularly rinsed when not in use for a long time. The port connected to the atmosphere should be sealed and stored.
When there is no liquid passing through the suppressor, the current must not be turned on to prevent the internal exchange membrane from electrolytic cracking.
Regularly inspect and replace the online filter element in the suppressor flow path, and it is recommended to replace it every 3 months.
Maintenance of conductivity detector
Regularly rinse the conductivity detector to prevent water from deteriorating and causing high conductivity values.
The pressure during flushing should be less than 5Mpa to avoid damaging the detector.
Do not open the detector casing by yourself. If there are any issues, please contact a professional engineer.
2、 Daily maintenance and upkeep
Cleaning and Maintenance
Regularly clean the instrument, especially key parts such as the injection port and detector.
When replacing the liquid, it is necessary to shut down the operation to prevent solid particles from entering the pump body.
Calibration and Calibration
Regularly calibrate instruments to ensure the accuracy of measurement results. The calibration cycle should be determined based on the frequency of instrument use and experimental requirements, and it is generally recommended to conduct it once every quarter or every six months.
Use high-purity reagents to prepare the rinsing solution required for the instrument, and ultrapure water should meet the standard of resistance>18.2M Ω* cm.
Software updates and maintenance
Regularly check and update the software system of the instrument to ensure its performance and safety.
3、 Operation precautions
Sample processing
The sample needs to remove solid particles before injection to prevent blockage of the injection valve or chromatographic column.
For high content samples, they need to be diluted or treated with a column to remove interfering ions before analysis.
Environmental Requirements
The instrument should be placed in a non corrosive gas and well ventilated environment for use.
Operating Specifications
Strictly follow the instructions in the instrument manual to avoid damage caused by misoperation.
When installing analysis columns, replacing suppressors, and other critical operations, it is necessary to follow the correct operating steps and precautions
