The main principles and application scenarios of audio analyzer
Date: 2025-11-28Read: 0
Audio analyzer is an electronic testing instrument used to measure and analyze the performance of audio signals, widely used in the fields of audio equipment research and development, production, maintenance, and acoustic testing. It is an electronic testing instrument used to measure, analyze, and evaluate various parameters and characteristics of audio signals. It can measure the electroacoustic parameters of individual audio devices such as microphones, audio amplifiers, and speakers, as well as test the overall performance of systems such as combination speakers and mixing consoles.
principle
The audio analyzer decomposes the audio signal into different frequency components based on Fourier transform (FFT), converts the analog signal into a digital signal through sampling theorem, and then uses discrete Fourier transform (DFT) for spectral analysis. ‌
time domain analysis
By inputting test signals such as sine waves and square waves, observe the distortion of the output waveform, and evaluate the transient response and damping characteristics of the equipment. For example, the shorter the rise time of a step signal, the more sensitive the device response. ‌
Frequency domain analysis
The frequency response curve reflects the output characteristics of the device at different frequencies, and the fluctuation of peaks and valleys directly affects frequency distortion. ‌
Distortion analysis
Measure harmonic distortion (THD) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), where THD is calculated as the ratio of total harmonic components to fundamental components, and SNR is evaluated by the ratio of effective signal voltage to noise voltage. ‌
Signal generation
Some analyzers are integrated with signal generators, which can generate standard test signals such as sine waves and square waves for equipment performance testing. ‌
Application scenarios
Audio equipment research and development: used for performance testing of audio equipment such as speakers, headphones, amplifiers, microphones, etc., to ensure that the equipment meets design requirements.
Production quality control: Batch testing of audio equipment on the production line to detect key indicators such as frequency response, distortion level, and noise characteristics, ensuring product quality.
Acoustic testing: Conducting acoustic measurements in music production, recording studios, theaters, and other places to optimize the acoustic environment and improve sound quality performance.
Communication engineering: Analyze the transmission characteristics of audio signals in different frequency bands, optimize the audio performance of communication systems, such as satellite communication terminals and radio audio performance testing.
Car audio testing: Testing the performance of car audio systems to ensure high-quality audio experience in complex in car environments.
