Application in national defense affairs

A certain ship is a new type of surface combat vessel. During the iron spectrum analysis of its main power device 12V390E diesel engine oil before carrying out the mission, large wear debris of aluminum based alloy was found. After careful fault analysis, in-situ inspection was carried out on aluminum containing components such as cam bearings and main shaft bearing piston pin seats. Finally, a small crack was found at the screw of the left cylinder piston pin seat, and the preliminary diagnosis was that the piston pin seat was faulty. After disassembly, it was found that the piston pin seat had been shattered. The machine is a 12V390E type, 7200 horsepower high-power diesel engine, which is expensive and has low output. If it continues to work, the piston will quickly break and disintegrate under the pressure of a 1Mpa explosion, shattering the engine body and causing serious accidents such as crankshaft bending. Due to the timely detection of hidden dangers through monitoring, the management personnel immediately organized emergency repairs and repaired the machine in just two days and nights, thus avoiding a serious accident and saving more than 3 million yuan in expenses.

In the monitoring of the 42-160 diesel engine, corrosion and wear particles were found. Combined with spectral and physicochemical analysis, it was promptly determined that they were caused by seawater ingress.
Iron spectrum analysis: A large amount of red oxides were found on the spectrum, indicating clear signs of water ingress in the oil;
Spectral analysis: The content of sodium element in the lubricating oil is as high as 500ppm, significantly higher than other oil samples, and it is preliminarily judged that seawater has entered the lubricating oil;
Physical and chemical analysis: Using SYP1015 petroleum product moisture tester, the test result shows a moisture content of 0.8%.
Overall judgment: There is seawater in the diesel engine lubricating oil, with a content of 0.8%, which has caused a large amount of red oxides to be produced in the oil.
Conclusion suggestion: Disassemble and inspect the diesel engine lubricating oil related system, and replace the lubricating oil.
Inspection result: Corrosion of the diesel engine oil cooler coil caused seawater leakage into the diesel engine oil.
Attention: If seawater is found in the lubricating oil, it must be disassembled and cleaned immediately, and the lubricating oil must be replaced to avoid the spread of seawater and severe corrosion of the parts over time.
