Common maintenance scenarios for film thickness gauges
Date: 2025-07-30Read: 22
The maintenance of film thickness gauges mainly focuses on troubleshooting equipment used to measure the thickness of thin films, coatings, or coatings. Common problems include equipment failure to start, inaccurate readings, and abnormal displays. The maintenance process involves calibrating instruments, cleaning probes, checking power and circuits, and other operations to ensure measurement accuracy and normal equipment operation.
Common maintenance scenarios:
Power on malfunction: Check the battery level, poor contact, or wiring issues, and replace the battery or clean the oxide layer if necessary. ‌
The instrument does not turn on:
Check the battery: Confirm if the battery is charged or replace it with a new one. Check if the battery contact is good and if the electrode pads are oxidized or rusted. If there is oxidation, use tools to scrape off the oxide layer.
Check the buttons: Check if the buttons are pressed properly and if they have elasticity.
Host line fault: If all the above checks are normal, it may be a host line fault. You need to consult the company's after-sales service or return to the factory for maintenance.
Measurement error: calibrate the instrument, check the probe status and substrate surface roughness, and eliminate external interference factors.
Inaccurate instrument measurement:
System calibration: First, calibrate the instrument to meet the error range (error follows ≤ 3% (thickness value) ± 1um). For more accurate testing, system calibration can be performed on a smooth bare base of the tested workpiece, rather than using randomly placed iron blocks.
Check the probe: Check whether the front end of the probe is worn, deformed, or has attached substances, and whether the outer sheath of the probe is not in a horizontal position. If there is any deformation, it can be corrected and cleaned with sandpaper.
Surface of the substrate being tested: The roughness of the substrate surface can affect the measurement results, causing systematic and accidental errors. During measurement, the number of measurements can be increased at different positions to overcome accidental errors.
Measurement method: Keep the probe perpendicular to the sample to ensure the correct measurement method.
Display abnormality: Clean the screen or check the connection circuit. If it involves damage to the LCD screen, professional repair is required.
Instrument display malfunction:
Appearance and component inspection: Check whether the instrument has any appearance damage or component damage, such as loose connectors or damaged probes.
Power issue: Check the power supply of the instrument to confirm if there is a power problem.
Internal component damage: If there is damage to the internal components of the instrument, and replacement or repair of parts is required, professional personnel should be contacted in a timely manner for handling.
