Classification of incubators
1) Biochemical incubator
So far, there are four main types of incubators used: biochemical incubators, carbon dioxide incubators, direct electric incubators, and water-resistant electric incubators. Each type of incubator has its own characteristics and functions, which are used in different scientific research and teaching fields. The application of biochemical incubators is the most common, which are equipped with both electric heating wire heating and compressor cooling. It has a wide adaptability range and can be maintained at a constant temperature throughout the year. Therefore, it has gradually become popular and widely used in the cultivation and preservation of bacteria, fungi, microorganisms, tissue cells, as well as water quality analysis and BOD testing. It is suitable for breeding experiments, plant cultivation, etc. It is also used in majors such as environmental protection, health and epidemic prevention, drug testing, agriculture and animal husbandry, and aquaculture offered in universities.
2) CO2 incubator
The carbon dioxide incubator is an improvement on the basis of ordinary cultivation, creating an environment that allows cells/tissues to grow better by controlling the surrounding environmental conditions. The result of condition control will form a stable condition, such as constant pH (7.2-7.4), stable temperature (37 ℃), high relative humidity (95%), and stable CO2 level (5%). This is why researchers in the above fields are so enthusiastic about using convenient, stable, and reliable carbon dioxide incubators. In addition, due to the increase in carbon dioxide concentration control and the use of microcontrollers to control the temperature of the incubator, the success rate and efficiency of culturing biological cells, tissues, etc. have been improved. In short, the carbon dioxide incubator is a new type of incubator that cannot be replaced by ordinary electric constant temperature incubators.
3) Electric and waterproof incubators
Working principle of incubator
The outer shell of electric and waterproof incubators is usually made of asbestos board or iron sheet spray paint. The inner layer of waterproof incubators is a water storage layer made of purple copper sheet. The interlayer of electric incubators is made of insulation materials such as asbestos or glass wool to enhance the insulation effect. A thermometer is installed on the top of the incubator, which is automatically controlled by a temperature controller to maintain a constant temperature inside the incubator. The water-resistant incubator uses electric heating tubes to heat water, while the electric heating incubator uses electric heating wires for direct heating and utilizes air convection to achieve uniform temperature inside the incubator. In addition to the three commonly used types in universities and related institutions, there are also some incubators suitable for professional fields.
1. The light incubator is a high-precision constant temperature device with light function; A light incubator is a constant temperature cultivation device used for the cultivation and breeding experiments of bacteria, fungi, and microorganisms. It is particularly suitable for scientific research and production in fields such as biotechnology, medical research, agricultural and forestry science, aquaculture, and animal husbandry.
2. Microbial incubators are mainly suitable for scientific research, university experiments, and production departments such as environmental protection, health and epidemic prevention, agriculture and livestock, drug testing, and aquaculture. It is a constant temperature, constant temperature oscillation equipment used for water analysis and BOD determination of bacteria, fungi, and microorganisms in cultivation, preservation, plant cultivation, and breeding experiments.
3. A plant incubator is actually a temperature controlled incubator with light, temperature, and humidity that can meet the growth needs of plants. The principle of a plant incubator is several sets of light tubes and a set of temperature control devices (usually 5-50 degrees). If there are lighting settings, such as when to turn on and off the lights, when the lighting is stronger, etc.
4. An artificial climate chamber is a small enclosed isolation device that can manually control factors such as lighting, temperature, humidity, air pressure, and gas composition.
5. Constant temperature and humidity chamber Constant temperature and humidity chamber: a type of chamber with a temperature and humidity control system that can accurately simulate complex natural environments such as constant temperature and humidity. It is generally used in laboratories for plant cultivation and breeding experiments; Bacterial and microbial cultivation, used for breeding, fermentation, microbial cultivation, various constant temperature tests, environmental tests, substance denaturation tests, and storage of culture media, serum, drugs, and other items. It can be widely applied to sterile testing in pharmaceuticals, textiles, food processing, and other fields. It is also widely used in research and application areas such as healthcare, biopharmaceuticals, agricultural research, and environmental protection. The constant temperature and humidity chamber is generally used in industries such as electronics and electrical engineering, household appliances, automobiles, instruments and meters, electronic chemicals, components, raw materials, coatings, and plating for high and low temperature, high and low humidity experiments. It is highly favored in fields such as aerospace, aviation, ships, weapons, electronics, petrochemicals, postal and telecommunications, communications, and automobiles.
