How to troubleshoot the malfunction of environmental grade x and gamma radiation dose rate meters?

Environmental grade X and gamma radiation dose rate meters (hereinafter referred to as "dose rate meters") are key equipment for environmental radiation monitoring and nuclear facility protection. Malfunctions are often concentrated in scenarios such as abnormal display, inaccurate measurement, no response, and alarm failure. The troubleshooting should follow the principle of "simple before complex, external before internal", prioritize the elimination of non hardware damage problems, and gradually locate core faults.


1、 General troubleshooting steps (perform all faults first)

2、 Malfunctions that require professional return to the factory (self disassembly is prohibited)

  1. Detector related faults: such as scintillator aging, ionization chamber leakage/high voltage abnormality, semiconductor detector breakdown, require professional equipment for testing and replacement;

  2. Internal hardware failure: The power board and signal processing board are damaged, calibration data is lost, and self calibration is not possible;

  3. Structural damage: body fracture, detector window damage, waterproof seal failure;


3、 Daily maintenance and prevention suggestions

  1. Regular calibration: Environmental grade dose rate meters need to be sent to qualified laboratories for calibration at least once a year to ensure measurement accuracy;

  2. Cleaning and maintenance: Clean the detector window and body monthly to avoid contamination; When not in use for a long time, turn off the battery after fully charging it, and recharge it every 3 months to prevent battery depletion;

  3. Standardized storage: Avoid long-term storage in high temperature, humidity, and strong radiation environments, and cover with a dust cover during storage;

  4. Avoid misoperation: A dedicated person is responsible for the operation, and it is prohibited to modify calibration parameters or restore factory settings at will. Before operation, read the instruction manual.
