What are the details of maintenance for VOC nitrogen generators
Date: 2025-12-22Read: 1
The maintenance of VOC nitrogen generators needs to be combined with their special requirements of high purity (≥ 99.999%) and low hydrocarbon residue (≤ 0.01ppm), and systematic management should be carried out around core component maintenance, environmental control, and regular calibration. Below are five dimensions to elaborate on maintenance details:
1、 Daily maintenance: basic support and pollution prevention and control
-Regularly replace the filter element
-Pre filter element: Replace the air filter cotton and activated carbon filter element every 3-6 months to prevent dust and oil mist from entering the host and contaminating the molecular sieve. If the working environment is dusty or humid, the cycle needs to be shortened.
-Molecular sieve filter: Check once a year and replace immediately when the nitrogen purity is below 99.999% or the gas production flow rate decreases. VOC specific models require additional attention to the efficiency degradation of the catalytic unit due to the addition of a hydrocarbon removal device.
-Body cleaning and ventilation
-Wipe the body with a dry cloth every week, clean the dust from the heat dissipation port, and avoid overheating of the host that affects nitrogen production efficiency.
-Place the area away from oil stains and corrosive gases, keep it dry (humidity ≤ 60%), and reduce the risk of component aging.
-Pipeline sealing inspection
-Apply soapy water to the nitrogen output pipeline interface every month and observe for any bubbles to confirm if there is any air leakage. If a leak is found, tighten or replace the sealing ring in a timely manner.
2、 Deep maintenance of core components
-Molecular sieve activation and replacement
-If the generator is put back into use after being idle for a long time, or if the purity slightly decreases, molecular sieve activation treatment can be carried out according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually by heating up and blowing) to restore adsorption performance.
-After activation, let it stand for 2-4 hours before testing the purity. Only when it meets the standard can it be connected to the VOC monitoring system.
-Maintenance of automatic drainage system
-Check daily whether the automatic drain is blocked to avoid the accumulation of condensed water affecting the purity of nitrogen.
-Models without automatic drainage function require manual drainage once a week to prevent moisture corrosion of internal pipelines.
3、 Calibration and Performance Verification
-Purity calibration
-Every 3-6 months, connect a professional nitrogen purity tester to the output port of the generator to check if the purity meets the standard (gas chromatography commonly requires ≥ 99.999%).
-If the purity does not meet the standard, first check for filter failure or pipeline leakage. If the problem persists after troubleshooting, contact the manufacturer to calibrate the sensor.
-Flow and pressure calibration
-Every 6 months, use standard flow meters and pressure gauges to check the displayed values of the equipment. If the deviation exceeds ± 5%, it needs to be adjusted to the standard range.
-Ensure stable output pressure (usually 0.4~0.6MPa) and flow rate matching the requirements of the VOC analyzer.
4、 Long term stable operation strategy
-Avoid overloading operation
-Strictly follow the rated flow rate and do not exceed the maximum gas production load, otherwise it may cause molecular sieve adsorption saturation and rapid purity decline.
-When there is a long-term high flow demand, it is recommended to supply gas in parallel with multiple units.
-Record maintenance logs
-Detailed records of filter replacement time, calibration data, purity testing results, establishment of equipment files for easy traceability of issues.
-In important experiments or continuous operation scenarios, spare filter cartridges and portable purity meters should be equipped for quick replacement in case of sudden abnormalities.
5、 Special scenario precautions
-Environmental adaptability management
-The working temperature should be controlled between 15 ℃~35 ℃, the humidity should be ≤ 85% RH, and it should be kept away from vibration sources and strong electromagnetic interference.
-The built-in oil-free compressor needs to ensure good heat dissipation and monitor the motor temperature during continuous operation.
-Emergency fault handling
-When abnormal noise, odor or leakage occurs, immediately stop the machine and disconnect the power supply.
-When the pressure gauge reading fluctuates by more than ± 0.05MPa, it is necessary to troubleshoot the pressure regulating valve or adsorption tower.
