How to correctly troubleshoot a nitrogen generator
Date: 2025-11-24Read: 1
As the core equipment for laboratory and industrial nitrogen production, the troubleshooting of nitrogen generators requires a combination of systematic troubleshooting and targeted maintenance. The following are troubleshooting strategies based on multidimensional practice summary:
1、 Power and control system malfunction
-No response upon startup
-Power inspection: Confirm that the power socket is supplying power normally (220V/50Hz), and check if the power cord plug is loose or oxidized. If the fuse is blown (common specifications are 3A or 5A), it is necessary to replace it with a fuse of the same specification and investigate the risk of short circuit in the circuit.
-Abnormal control panel: If there is no signal on the display screen, it is necessary to check whether the display board cable is plugged in tightly or the status of the circuit board indicator light. If the circuit board malfunctions, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel for repair.
2、 Abnormal gas output
-Pressure deviation from set value
-Pressure too high/too low: Adjust the air intake pressure reducing valve to 0.4MPa and the nitrogen output valve to 0.5MPa. If the valve leaks or is blocked, it needs to be cleaned or replaced.
-System leakage: After turning off the power, seal the nitrogen outlet and turn on the power to observe whether the pressure meets the standard and the flow rate returns to zero. If not zeroed, use soap solution to check the connection points of the drying tube, solenoid valve, etc.
-Insufficient purity of nitrogen gas
-Consumable failure: When the carbon molecular sieve ages or becomes contaminated, it needs to be regenerated at high temperature or replaced with a new sieve body.
-Poor air source quality: Clean or replace the air filter to ensure the quality of the input air.
-Unstable traffic
-Buffer tank configuration: Add ≥ 50L buffer tank to balance pressure fluctuations.
-Valve stuck: Disassemble the solenoid valve to clean internal impurities, or adjust the tightness of the nut.
3、 Mechanical operation failure
-Abnormal noise and vibration
-Abnormal noise of solenoid valve: Impurities cause noise when the solenoid valve works, and the valve core needs to be cleaned or replaced with a new valve.
-Compressor vibration: Install rubber shock absorbers (thickness ≥ 5mm) and corrugated hoses to reduce mechanical resonance.
-Component aging
-Bearing wear: Add ISO VG68 lubricating oil to lubricate the bearings.
-Overheating of electrolytic cell: Immediately shut down and check the cooling water circuit, replace the failed electrolyte (recommended 20% KOH concentration).
Through the above structured troubleshooting and scientific maintenance, common faults can be solved to ensure the long-term efficient operation of the nitrogen generator.
