Brief Introduction

In the exploration of materials science, flexible porous materials have attracted much attention due to their properties. These materials, such as MOF, COF, and HOF, can exhibit flexible pore characteristics under different conditions, bringing new possibilities for gas storage, separation, and catalysis.

So, how to quickly identify whether these materials have flexible opening characteristics? The Bethel Testing Center and its users have discovered a simple and effective method of judgment through a large amount of experimental data:Does the isotherm exhibit a folding phenomenon.

Specifically, when these materials undergo gas adsorption testing under specific conditions, if the isotherm (i.e. the curve of adsorption capacity changing with pressure) shows a significant inflection after a certain pressure point, it usually indicates that the material has flexible pore characteristics. This is because the flexible opening of the pores will result in the exposure of new surface area, leading to an increase in adsorption capacity and the formation of folds on the isotherm.

This discovery not only simplifies the identification process of flexible porous materials, but also provides more clues for materials science research. When exploring unknown materials, it is also advisable to pay more attention to the changes in isotherms, which may reveal more interesting phenomena and patterns.

The Bethel Testing Center looks forward to discussing more related issues in the field of adsorption characterization with everyone. We welcome criticism and correction from experts and teachers!
