Corrosive gas adsorption instruments may encounter various common problems during use
Date: 2025-11-21Read: 0
Corrosive gas adsorption instrumentIt is a scientific instrument used to measure and analyze the adsorption behavior of corrosive gas molecules on material surfaces. The principle of vacuum capacity method is mainly used to measure the amount of gas adsorbed or desorbed on the solid surface by controlling different pressure points at low temperatures, in order to obtain the adsorption desorption isotherm. Based on different theoretical models (such as BET model), key parameters such as specific surface area, pore size distribution, and pore volume of the material can be further calculated. In addition, gas displacement method is also a commonly used testing method, which replaces liquid with gas to determine the volume discharged from the sample. It has the advantage of not damaging the sample and the measured sample volume is closer to the true value.
Corrosive gas adsorption instrumentDuring use, various common problems may be encountered. The following are summarized from five aspects: device startup, measurement accuracy, display function, daily maintenance, and safety protection, and specific solutions are provided:
1、 The device cannot start
Phenomenon: After pressing the power button, the instrument has no response and the display screen does not light up.
Possible reasons:
Power failure: The power socket is not powered on, the plug has poor contact, or the internal fuse is blown.
Hardware damage: power switch damage or internal circuit short circuit/open circuit.
resolvent:
Check if the power socket is working properly and confirm that the plug is securely connected; If the fuse burns out, it needs to be replaced with a fuse of the same specification.
Check if the power switch is in the "on" state. If it is damaged, contact the manufacturer for replacement; Use a multimeter to check the internal circuit and repair short circuits or open circuits.
2、 Large measurement error
Phenomenon: There is a significant difference between the test data and the expected value, or the data fluctuates unstably.
Possible reasons:
Sensor aging/damage: Sensor lifespan expires or exposure to high concentrations of corrosive gases leads to poisoning.
Gas supply issues: unstable gas flow (such as pipeline blockage, flow meter failure) or insufficient gas purity.
Improper sample handling: surface contamination, insufficient drying, or uneven sample loading.
resolvent:
Regularly calibrate sensors (every 3-6 months) and verify reading accuracy using standard gases; If the sensor is poisoned or aged, it needs to be replaced with a new sensor.
Check the pressure of gas cylinders, pipeline connections, and flow meter status, clean blockages or replace faulty components; Ensure that the gas purity meets the experimental requirements.
Strictly handle samples according to specifications: clean and dry thoroughly, evenly fill and avoid gaps during sample loading, and filter powder samples using a standard sieve.
3、 Display unclear or abnormal
Phenomenon: The display screen is blurry, flickering, or displaying error codes.
Possible reasons:
Display screen malfunction: The display screen is damaged or the wiring is disconnected.
Software/firmware issues: Program errors or firmware not being updated causing crashes or functional abnormalities.
resolvent:
Check if the connection cable of the display screen is loose. If it is damaged, replace the display screen or cable.
Contact the manufacturer to upgrade firmware or reset the device; After restarting the instrument, observe if it returns to normal. If the problem persists, it needs to be returned to the factory for repair.
4、 Malfunctions caused by improper daily maintenance
Phenomenon: The device frequently reports errors or experiences performance degradation.
Possible reasons:
Unplanned maintenance: Internal dust accumulation, clogged filter element, or aging seals.
Environmental factors: laboratory temperature and humidity exceeding the standard or air pollution interfering with testing.
resolvent:
Establish a regular maintenance system: clean the air intake and sensor surface every week, replace the filter element every month, perform full-scale calibration and backup data every quarter.
Control laboratory environment: maintain stable temperature and humidity (such as room temperature of 25 ± 2 ℃, humidity<70% RH), install air purification equipment to avoid interference from dust or volatile organic compounds.
5、 Insufficient safety protection
Phenomenon: Gas leakage or discomfort of personnel during the testing process.
Possible reasons:
Air leakage: Loose pipeline connections, damaged valves, or aging sealing rings.
Lack of protective measures: failure to wear protective equipment or ventilation system malfunction.
resolvent:
Use soapy water to check the air circuit connection, tighten loose joints or replace sealing rings; Regularly inspect gas cylinders and exhaust treatment devices.
Strictly comply with safety regulations: operate in a fume hood, wear acid and alkali resistant gloves, goggles, and anti-corrosion laboratory clothing; Wear a gas mask when dealing with highly toxic gases and ensure sufficient exhaust absorption solution.
