Introduction: solveThe fundamental method of "sticking to the neck" is not blindly imitating or following foreign products and technologies, but to achieve "mutual sticking" and "anti sticking" between domestic and imported brands through continuous innovation.
In the past two years, trade frictions have become increasingly severe, and the resulting technology dispute between China and the United States has had a huge impact on global division of labor. From a macro perspective,The 14th Five Year Plan documents, local policy support, and preference for domestic procurement have become a consensus among the government, market, and public to support the development of domestic instruments. Under the huge waves, has the spring arrived for domestic instrument companies? How will imported brands better formulate localization strategies?
Based on this, Instrument Network specially invites Liu Jianfeng, General Manager of Beishide Instruments, toOpinion on the Development Path of Domestic Instrument Enterprises.

In the product categories involved in your company, do you think that the current domestic market isWhat are the products, key core components, and key technologies that cause "neck jamming"?
Liu Jianfeng:Currently, there are two types of accessories that Beishide instruments rely on imports. One is high-precision vacuum gauges used for specific surface area and micropore analyzers, and the other is online mass spectrometry matched with multi-component competitive adsorption breakthrough curve analyzers. Affected by the epidemic, the global supply chain has been disrupted, and the delivery time of accessories has changed from before8-12 weeks, extended to the current 16-20 weeks, resulting in an extended delivery cycle for the entire machine.
Besides products and technology, what do you think are the challenges facing the development of domestic instrumentsThe problem of 'neck blockage'?
Liu Jianfeng:Except for the two types of accessories mentioned above, there are no other technical aspects of Beishide instrumentsThe issue of 'neck blockage'. Beishide's entire product line is independently developed and produced, with independent intellectual property rights, and some technologies have reachedInternational WaterPing not only narrows or even eliminates the gap with imported brands, but also achieves the contrast of 'Beishide has it but not imported'.
However, adsorption characterization instruments require high professionalism from purchasers due to their diverse types, complex principles, and structures. Users often prefer imported products when selecting, and their impression of domestic instruments is mainly based on price advantages. They rarely include high-performance domestic instruments with high prices in their consideration list. This is also a common issue in the current analytical instrument industryThe issue of 'neck blockage'.
How do you think these should be addressedThe problem of 'neck blockage'?
Liu Jianfeng:Instrument companies should focus on their respective sub sectors, increase research and development investment, focus on the long term, and earn future money in order to narrow the gap with imported brands. In addition to narrowing the existing gap, domestic enterprises should pay more attention to innovation; solveThe fundamental method of "sticking to the neck" is not just to imitate or follow foreign products and technologies, but to achieve "mutual sticking" and "anti sticking" between domestic and imported brands through continuous innovation. Furthermore, promoting the development of industry standards and relevant national standards, conducting domestic instrument testing and evaluation, and promoting the application of standard substances can lower the selection threshold for users and simplify the comparative evaluation of professional instruments.
Which products, technologies, or applications in your company's product categories have effectively broken monopolies and solved problemsThe problem of 'neck blockage'? What methods or experiences are worth learning from? Do you have any relevant cases to share about your company's products, technologies, or applications?
Liu Jianfeng:At present, multiple products of Beishide Instrument have broken the monopoly and solved the problemThe issue of 'neck blockage'. Compared with imported instruments such as BSD-660 high-performance specific surface area and micropore analyzer, BSD-VVS&DVS multi station weight based gas vapor adsorption analyzer, BSD-MAB multi-component competitive adsorption breakthrough curve analyzer, and BSD Chem C200 fully automatic chemical adsorption analyzer, the test results show that the basic functions are superior and inferior, and the new performance parameter indicators have advantages.
The reason why these products are able to break the monopoly is mainly due to the continuous investment of Beishide Instruments in research and innovation. We believe that innovation is productivity, with innovation comes incremental growth, without innovation comes internal competition. I particularly agree with the views of Han Shuanglai, General Manager of Focus Technology, on innovation,Doing things that others have already done well will only create opportunities for disruption; meeting the unmet needs of customers is innovation; customers willing to spend more money on you is recognition of innovation
In 2015, Zhao Xin, Deputy General Manager of Instrumental Network, and Yan Zengxu, Senior Consultant of China Instrument and Meter Industry Association, visited the Beishide Instrument Factory to discuss the low efficiency of surface area and pore size analysis testers. Yan asked, "As an instrument manufacturer, have you considered a better solution?" As our goal at that time was to benchmark imported instruments, I replied, "The testing process of surface area and pore size analyzers is slow, which is a common situation in domestic and foreign instruments and has little to do with the instruments themselves. It is mainly influenced by the characteristics of the samples." Obviously, this answer seems reasonable, but it has little value and cannot promote our progress.
In the following years, we often thought, is this really the limit of a physical adsorption instrument? Can't the testing speed be any faster? When we no longer benchmark imported instruments and start using themWhen considering these issues based on first principles, the key to breaking through the limitations of instrument functionality was gradually identified. Taking the BSD-660 high-performance specific surface area and micropore analyzer as an example, Bethel Instruments initially abandoned the conventional idea of 3-4 stations being high-throughput and directly designed 12 analysis stations, increasing the instrument's analysis and testing throughput by 3-4 times, becoming the largest specific surface area and pore size analyzer in the market in terms of the number of analysis stations; Afterwards, we will continue to break the current situation where degassing heating furnaces and testing Dewar flasks must be manually switched, adopt automatic switching, and improve instrument efficiency internationallyRealize the true full automation of the physical adsorption instrument.

Prior to 2015, the weight based vapor adsorption instrument was monopolized by imported manufacturers and could only analyze one sample, resulting in low efficiency, single functionality, high cost, and inability to meet the fully automatic cycle life evaluation of adsorbents. BSD-VVS&DVS multi station gravimetric gas vapor adsorption instrument was launched in 2015 by increasing independent R&D and innovation efforts, and has been continuously updated and upgraded. It has been listed as a single source of instrument and equipment procurement by Sun Yat sen University, Sinopec, PetroChina, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other scientific research institutions.

In addition, the Bethel high-pressure gas adsorption instrument has created and maintainedThe highest international pressure record of 70MPa provides relevant tools for evaluating unconventional oil and gas adsorption reserves; Invention of Capacity Method High Pressure and Constant Pressure Adsorption TechnologyIt can replace the magnetic levitation balance adsorption instrument and provide advanced tools for the evaluation of adsorption kinetics in the fields of "adsorption hydrogen storage" and "carbon sequestration".
In the field of gas adsorption and separation,The BSD-MAB multi-component competitive adsorption breakthrough curve analyzer is widely used in scientific research fields such as hydrocarbon separation, VOC removal, exhaust gas purification, carbon capture, etc. due to its powerful customization function.

In recent years, scientific instruments have become one of the focuses of attention in the scientific and technological community, and the development of domestically produced scientific instruments has also received widespread attention. What do you think are the current and future developments for domestic instrumentsPositive policies and opportunities? What additional support is needed?
Liu Jianfeng:On the one hand, China has achieved success in areas such as materials, manufacturing and processing, software, and talentRapid development is the fundamental supporting element for the development of the scientific instrument industry; On the other hand, more emphasis is placed on standard setting and intellectual property protection, and the National Standardization Development Outline and the Outline for Building an Intellectual Property Strong Country have been successively introduced(The relevant policies such as "2021-2035" and "14th Five Year Plan for National Intellectual Property Protection and Utilization" are exactly the policy guarantees needed for the development of the instrument industry. With the support of these favorable policies, domestic instruments have ushered in a period of rapid development opportunities.
What is your company's future product technology development plan in today's environment? What development path do you think domestic instrument companies should take?
Liu Jianfeng:Bethel InstrumentsSince its establishment in 2006, we have been focusing on the field of adsorption characterization for 15 years, achieving full coverage of adsorption characterization solutions and related intellectual property rights internationallyThe layout. In the future, we will continue to focus on the research and application of adsorption characterization instrument technology, and accumulate the credit score of domestic instruments in the minds of users through better instrument performance and better after-sales service; Although slow, it can accumulate and be solid, which is also the development path that I believe is suitable for most domestic instrument companies.
