Daily Maintenance Guide: Best Practices for Cleaning, Disinfection, and Maintenance of Water Bath Nitrogen Blowers
Date: 2025-08-20Read: 2
The water bath nitrogen blower is a key equipment used for sample concentration in laboratories, and its daily maintenance directly affects the accuracy of experimental results and equipment lifespan. The following provides a systematic maintenance plan from three aspects: cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance.
1、 Cleaning: phased treatment to avoid cross contamination
Daily cleaning: After the experiment, immediately rinse the nitrogen blowing needle tube and sample holder with deionized water to prevent residual organic solvents from solidifying. For the water bath, after emptying the residual water, wipe the inner wall with a soft cloth, focusing on removing algae or sediment (such as after using samples containing phosphate buffer solution).
Weekly deep cleaning: Disassemble detachable components (such as needle tubes and sample trays), soak them in neutral detergent and scrub them to avoid scratching with hard objects such as steel wool. Add 1% citric acid solution to the water bath and heat it to 60 ℃ for 30 minutes. Dissolve the scale and rinse.
Special pollution treatment: If the sample contains highly corrosive substances (such as concentrated sulfuric acid), it should be immediately neutralized with a 5% sodium bicarbonate solution, and then rinsed with deionized water until the pH is neutral.
2、 Disinfection: for different levels of microbial risk
Routine disinfection: After daily experiments, wipe the instrument surface and operation panel with 75% ethanol to prevent microbial growth. The water bath can be soaked in 0.1% sodium hypochlorite solution for 20 minutes to kill potential pathogens.
High risk scenario: When handling clinical samples or infectious disease-related substances, high-pressure steam sterilization (121 ℃/15 minutes) or fumigation with ethylene oxide gas is required for nitrogen injection needles.
Verification of disinfection effect: Regularly use ATP bioluminescence detector or culture method to verify disinfection effectiveness, ensuring that the total bacterial count is ≤ 10CFU/cm ².
3、 Maintenance: Preventive maintenance extends equipment lifespan
Water bath system maintenance: Replace the deionized water in the water bath every month to avoid algae growth; Check the heating tube and temperature control probe to ensure that the temperature fluctuation is ≤ ± 0.5 ℃.
Nitrogen system inspection: Check the nitrogen pressure gauge weekly to ensure that the gas supply pressure is stable at 0.2-0.5MPa; Clean the gas filter to prevent oil stains or particles from clogging the needle tube.
Mechanical component lubrication: Apply silicon-based grease to moving parts such as sample rack rails and rotating shafts every quarter to reduce wear and noise.
Long term shutdown protection: If the equipment is idle for more than one week, the water bath should be emptied and dried. A small amount of silicone oil should be injected into the nitrogen needle tube to prevent rust, and it should be covered with a dust cover and stored in a dry environment.
Attention: When cleaning and disinfecting, disconnect the power supply to avoid liquid infiltration into the circuit board; Wear protective gloves when using corrosive reagents to prevent skin contact. By standardizing maintenance procedures, the equipment failure rate can be significantly reduced, ensuring the reliability of experimental data.
