Zeiss Stereoscopic Microscope Daily Maintenance Checklist: From Objective Cleaning to Optical Path Calibration
Date: 2025-08-18Read: 3
As a precision optical instrument, Zeiss stereomicroscope needs to follow standardized procedures for daily maintenance to ensure imaging clarity and equipment stability. The following are the key maintenance steps and operational points:
1、 Cleaning of optical components
Objective lens cleaning
Use a specialized blowing balloon to remove surface dust and avoid direct wiping that may cause scratches.
If there are oil stains or fingerprints, dip a cotton swab in a small amount of anhydrous ethanol (concentration ≥ 99.5%) or specialized optical cleaning solution, and gently wipe from the center to the outside in a spiral manner. Replace the cotton swab each time to avoid secondary pollution.
After cleaning, let it stand for 10 minutes until the solvent evaporates before reinstalling the lens barrel.
Eyepiece and Prism Maintenance
When the eyepiece is detachable, wrap a wooden stick with lens paper and gently wipe the inner surface; When it cannot be disassembled, use an air blower and a soft bristled brush to clean the surface dust.
The prism group needs to be regularly checked for delamination on the bonding surface. If bubbles or cracks are found, they should be stopped immediately and after-sales service should be contacted.
2、 Mechanical system maintenance
Lubrication of focusing mechanism
Add 1-2 drops of microscope specific lubricating oil (such as NyeLubricants857G) to the coarse/fine adjustment knob rack every 3 months, and rotate the knob to evenly distribute the oil film.
Avoid using industrial lubricants to prevent corrosion of plastic components.
Carrier calibration
Use standard measuring blocks (such as 10mm ceramic measuring blocks) to test the accuracy of the stage movement. If the error exceeds ± 5 μ m, adjust the limit screw.
Do not forcefully push or pull when moving the platform to prevent gear wear.
3、 Optical path system calibration
Center correction of light source
Turn off the light source, place white paper on the stage, slowly turn on the light source and observe the light spot. Adjust the screws on the light source base to center the light spot.
LED light sources need to be tested for brightness attenuation every six months. If the light intensity decreases by more than 30%, the lamp beads need to be replaced.
Binocular disparity adjustment
Place the reticle on the stage, observe the cross line coincidence through the eyepiece, and adjust the screws of the prism group to ensure that the left and right image deviation is ≤ 0.1mm.
Re calibration is required after each change in magnification.
4、 Environmental and storage requirements
The instrument should be placed on a shock resistant platform (vibration frequency<5Hz), away from air conditioning vents and direct sunlight.
When not in use for a long time, cover with a dust cover and store in an environment with a relative humidity of 40% -60%. Power on once a month to prevent mold growth.
