How to choose the calibration cycle for formaldehyde online monitoring equipment?
Date: 2025-08-29Read: 0
The selection of calibration cycle for formaldehyde online monitoring equipment needs to consider multiple factors comprehensively. The following are some key points:
Equipment usage frequency: For frequently used formaldehyde online monitoring equipment, such as those used in continuous monitoring industrial production environments or densely populated public places, the wear and aging rate of sensors and other components is relatively fast. It is recommended to calibrate them every 3-6 months. Equipment with lower frequency of use, such as instruments occasionally used for laboratory specific experiments, can be appropriately extended to calibrate once a year.
Environmental conditions for use: If the equipment is in harsh environments such as high humidity, high temperature, and high pollution, environmental factors may have a significant impact on the performance of the equipment, leading to measurement results deviation. In this case, the calibration cycle should be shortened, generally every 1-3 months. For example, in places with high formaldehyde emissions and complex environmental conditions such as printing and dyeing factories and furniture factories, the calibration cycle should be shorter. In a relatively stable and clean laboratory environment, the calibration cycle can be appropriately extended to 3-6 months.
The quality and performance of the instrument itself: A formaldehyde online monitoring device with good quality, high stability, and reliability can have a relatively longer calibration cycle. For example, devices that use high-precision sensors and high-quality circuit designs may need to be calibrated every 6-12 months. On the contrary, equipment with average quality and poor stability needs to be calibrated every 3-6 months.
Measurement accuracy requirements: For scenarios that require high-precision monitoring, such as laboratory research, environmental quality monitoring stations, etc., to ensure accuracy over the full range, multi-point calibration is required, and the calibration cycle should be short, generally 3-6 months. For daily indoor formaldehyde monitoring scenarios with relatively low accuracy requirements, the calibration cycle can be appropriately extended to 6-12 months.
Calibration result trend: The calibration cycle can be adjusted based on the past calibration results of the equipment. If the results of several consecutive calibration cycles are within 80% of the maximum allowable error, it indicates that the equipment performance is stable, and the subsequent calibration cycles can be appropriately extended; If the calibration result exceeds the maximum allowable error or is between 80% and 100% of the maximum allowable error, the calibration cycle should be shortened.
Manufacturer's recommendation: Equipment manufacturers usually provide recommendations for calibration cycles based on the characteristics and performance of the instrument, which is also an important reference for selecting calibration cycles. Users should follow the manufacturer's recommendations and make adjustments based on actual usage.
In addition, when determining the calibration cycle, periodic simple performance checks can be conducted on the equipment in conjunction with periodic checks to ensure that the equipment can continuously and stably provide accurate measurement results during the calibration cycle. If the device malfunctions, repairs, or replaces sensors during use, calibration should be performed immediately after repair or replacement.
