Review of New Technologies for In Situ Study of Plant Nutrient Utilization and Heavy Metal Toxicity
Date: 2017-05-25Read: 0

Plant growth cannot be separated from various metallic and non-metallic elements. These elements enter the plant body through soil, atmosphere, and water, and are distributed to various parts of the plant through transportation and a series of physiological and biochemical reactions. The impact of various elements on plants has always been one of the important hotspots in plant research. The focus of this study is mainly on two aspects:1. Due to the increasingly serious issue of food security, obtaining standardized fertilization methods that can not only improve crop yield and quality, but also reduce potential harm to the environment (such as eutrophication) is a major challenge facing *;2. Modern industry causes severe heavy metal pollution in the environment, which accumulates in plants and is transmitted to animal communities and humans. In order to understand the operating rules of these two problems and find solutions, it is necessary to study the physiological and ecological responses of plants under different elemental conditions.

Many traditional methods for analyzing plant physiological and biochemical indicators and elements require samples to be retrieved from the laboratory and subjected to destructive pretreatment. Many important information may be missing or altered during this process, and long-term monitoring of the same sample cannot be achieved, making it difficult to estimate the differential changes in plant growth at different stages. This article will introduce some advanced non-destructive methods for in situ nutrient utilization and heavy metal toxicity research in plants/Quasi non-destructive instrument technology.
